Hear it's a good job. I have 6 months OTR. Hub Group (Comtrak) requires a year. JB Hunt requires 6 months or less.

    Thoughts?

I'd rather take a beating everyday then to truck inter-modal in/around Atlanta every day. The money may be worth it to some though, I don't know.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

I know it's money but not 4k a week for owner ops. I say run with JB for 6 months and set aside some money each week or month.

Is that staying local or long hauling cans? I know there is the port of savanna and a rail yard in down town atl. I know some say stay out of the ports and just run rails, can we get some insight on that thanks.

I run JB hunt Intermodal out of Atlanta- we utilize FOUR railyards- 2 Csx and 2 Norfolk Southerns - the one "Downtown" is a Norfolk off of Marrietta rd.
Another one close to that one is a CSX of of I-20 and exit 59 .,..
A Norfolk out in Austell (Thornton rd)and a CSX down in Fairburn Ga (I-85 exit 61).....it is a pain going to the Marrietta Norfolk but not every pickup and drop originates /ends there either......."Clock management" is the key to maximizing your money potential with this job as it is with any trucking job and the loads that we Intermodal guys get range from 120-300 miles of Atl.....I've been satisfied so far with the job, but your workflow can be tripped up more often in intermodal work- I.e improperly billed trailer, deadhead load with difficulty in finding empties and of course the hideous traffic at times/areas all are obstacles that set us back weekly......
But its fast-paced and fun when the wheels turn and you by some small miracle avoid the majority of these obstacles.....
Overall I say I hate it at some point in the day, then a few hours later I'm back in high spirits again! Its one of those "rollercoaster" type jobs for sure!
