There have been several times that business models changed and there were too many drivers at a location. It happened twice in Laurens SC, once when the GM side of the DC closed down and Shelby NC opened and another when the Center Point in Laurens closed. Drivers were offered a transfer of layoff. I know that it also happened in Sutherland. Drivers where offered transfers to Raymond NH. They were moved at company expense, I think. When business picked back up in Sutherland, they were offered their old positions back, if they wanted them.
Walmart here I come!

Here's another question for you guys- Just how much daily/weekly paperwork do you have?
The fleet that I drive for has plenty.... so much so that my trainees are somewhat intimidated by it.

Very little paperwork. Just your trip sheet, seal 'card', BOL for your load from the DC and any vendors you pick up a backhaul from, plus the DVIR book. To ME that's very little anyway, might be a lot for someone else I guess. Its a lot less thanks my last job.

I have a question I put in a app on sunday and looked back up at current openings and they cleard the other one but put up a new one. Should I reapply to the new one or did the other one close so know they are going to go through the apps? Also how long does it take to hear back from them?

we have drivers come in and transfer out on a regular basis from florida,NC ,GA and anywhere else you can think of. -

However far you live from the DC, you should know when you're tired. And you should stop at that point. There are times where I've started my week and shut down after 8 hours. Most times I can go the full 14 my first day. They'd rather you be safe than the alternative. But my commute is only 4.5 hours (270 miles) whereas his was 700 miles, I'm guessing maybe 10 hours drive time? So Walmart very well may decide to cap the distance an applicant lives, or require proof of residency/motel stay etc. Walmart will be paying out big time for this, you can bet they're going to put measures in place to prevent a repeat occurrence. Obviously everyone would be 'grandfatherd' in, but any new-hires will probably be looking at a different set of rules. I also wouldn't be surprised to see the FMCSA make a rule that requires drivers to count their commute time toward their 11 hours. Of course, like what has already been said, it will limit the pool of qualified drivers that Walmart could hire, because Walmart (or most companies for that matter) don't want to hire a driver who can only work an hour or two his/her first day.
