Oh by the way am single, no kids, no child support. No strings attach. Nothing. Clean Record. So I have no problem with the OTR lifestyle, actually that is what I am looking forward. Maybe once I have a family I will have a change of heart and go regional .

I'm currently in the process of applying to the Prime PSD program. I am just waiting for my former employer of the last 7 years to provide the particular employment verification Prime needs. I'm hoping to get into a class starting early July. Threads like this have helped me decide that Prime was definitely the first choice for this career change.

Thus the reason I continue to read these threads, so I can gain the best, from the postings.

Find a van, not a car. You will have alot more room. I am doing it right now (van living).

I'm new to Trucking too, and my Prime recruiter is Cheryl. I called Prime's 877 number, they put me in touch with Cheryl, I asked some general questions, and told her I'd fill out an application on their website. I filled out the app, and after a few hours or so of frustration because I'm impatient, I decided to call her again. I called her number and extension and she did not answer, so I called the main number with the idea of getting a new recruiter, but the switchboard shot me straight on through to Cheryl. I'll say this, it's all me being impatient. Cheryl seems nice enough, and so does Prime, it's just everybody's (read me) in a hurry and worried about the unknown. I want as much information as I can get, as quickly as I can get it, and I want to make the best decision. Hey, that's the way it is my friend....

Now I will also say this... I've been waiting two days for approval already from Prime, and there has been no communication from Cheryl, however, I've come to realize from reading and researching, these recruiters have a lot going on and so far, I'm not really worth a major investment of Cheryl's time. I mean really, I have not passed a drug test, passed a physical, obtained a CDL permit, had my background check processed, or a host of other challenges that I don't even know about that need to be, "checked off," so to speak, by Cheryl before she invest her time in me. No matter the job, it's always time and money. Be patient I tell myself, be patient. Like all companies, Prime needs good and patient people. I have the former under control, and I'm working on the latter. :)

PS. Today, in less than 4 hours I went from application to approval for Celadon's school and their recruiter on the phone. I should be pleased, but really it worry's me. Sign me... still waiting for Prime.

The Prime recruiters are extremely busy. It took nearly a week for my approval to come through. I believe that they do a DMV check as part of the approval process. It's a lot cheaper than a bus ticket to Springfield, and tends to weed out a lot of the problem drivers.

    TMLangley Thanks this.

Is Prime currently doing a hair follicle test pre-hire?

To be clear, as a cyclist and motorcycle rider I don't think any type of drugs should be used by motor vehicle drivers, ever. Where I live now the biggest danger to me on the road is that something like a third of people abuse prescription pills.

There was a thread on this six months ago but only one person answered and it the rest of the thread was the stereotypical circlejerk. In that thread a person said they do hair follicle testing, but I've also had someone in the Prime subforum tell me they just do a urine test.

Yes TMLangley, celadon was very very quick to offer to me also, and I have them on the back burner right now in case I need them. Kinda scary.
