Baker Hughes are hiring again. Loads of openings in frac. Coiled tubing in Red Deer too.

That's after they laid off hundreds of operators.

Have a friend of mine in Grande Prairie who has been with Sanjel 2 years now in cementing. Now is a pump operator and soon to be supervisor someday. He enjoys working there. He never drove a big truck before until he worked at Sanjel. We worked together back in Ontario of all things concrete form work. You should have no trouble finding workers willing to come out here from Ontario.

There are good and bad stories for every company. Good to hear a happy story for sure.

Problem is, they want to be flown, flown back for days off, paid for hotels or camp etc. When I cam to Alberta I moved to better myself and paid my own way every step of the way.

I started on 15/6 paying my own way. Now 21/14 all expenses paid.

Very grateful and appreciative to my employer, and I show this by hard work, loyalty, adding value and doing my best whenever I can.

I do think there are too many people who expect big money and everything to be handed to them on a plate.

Too many that want an Alberta paycheck but won't commit to putting down Alberta roots. I grew up in southern Manitoba, but home is where I hang my hat, not where I USED to hang it. Yeah it sucks to not spend weekends with my family, but I started my own family with my own traditions HERE.

Sounds like you are all bent out of shape because you had to move to AB.

I give up 21 days away from my family. Still living the dream though and no complaints.

Horses for courses but don't bash on other peoples gigs because we all give up something.

My personal beef is with the AB bashers who make good coin in the patch yet bite the hand that feeds.

    Speaking of living in Alberta....Question:

Where to move to? I'm going out by end end of first week of July. Calgary, Edmonton or Grande Prairie? I want to work operating picker, coil tubing, cementing....I'll start at anything that will take me in one of these directions.

I think I'd rather be in Calgary, but I don't know where would be best for looking for jobs.

    Thanks
