Davis Express - Starke, FL... 4 or 5 hrs of sleep a night. Or the whole day

    Do not work for Davis Express out of Starke, FL. Unless you do not need sleep. Your 10 hours starts when you show your 30 minutes for unload and Post trip inspection. They will expect you to be ready for a load at exactly 10 hours, even if you have not been able to sleep at a customer and they make you line 5 to a parking place so you do not interrupt your break. Even if you are at the customer for several hours and have hours left to drive. They hold that break as beyond precious. They usually do not care about your need to shower, string you very tight, or tell you to get as close as you can to their Dacula yard and wait for a Publix load for multistop store delivery, and may have you sit for just under 24 hours. Then give you a 300 mile run that pays 250 miles or less. No or very little planning notification, poor communication, and Speed Guage. Pays short miles.

    Stick to your logs if you don't want to run illegal....they can't fire you for following the law ....if they do sue the daylights out of them .....they should already know this

    Unfortunately there are still companies who think that just because you have e-log, or show the break on the logbook, that you did sleep, or really don't care if you got any sleep. I found this out during my short stint with prime(what was I thinking?). You can report a company to fmcsa about lack of sleep, but odds are they won't do squat unless a bunch of major wrecks happen. Makes me glad I went back to a dry van company, that actually schedules things so you can get rest, and still get miles.

    great point. make the company work for you, not the other way around. i try to limit myself to 12 hours of work per day and i can still average 450-600 miles a day. Some days im lucky and i can have a bit more off time but i also had to start earlier than normal to deliver on time.

    Just log on duty for 5 minutes and then go off duty, there goes your 10 hour break. You need to man up and stand up, let them fire or mess with you. You're the problem, you let them do it.

    It's terrible that a company will expect you work as soon as your 10 hr break is up.

    I mean honestly, why would anyone WANT to sit at a truckstop for 15 hrs. If I get 5-6 hrs of sleep, that is plenty. Anything more than that is a bonus. When I'm out on the road, I'm out there to make money, not hang out in the drivers lounge watching NCIS. My schedule is out 5 days off 2. Those days I'm out, I want the wheels turning, then I relax when I'm at home. I swear, there is no pleasing some drivers.

    DOT mandates that I have to take a 10 hour break and my company expects me to work once my break is up? How dare those people! :biggrin_25517:

    I know who they are ,

    90% of their runs are at NIGHT

    You'll see their trucks all over down here in Fla sleeping in the middle of the day

    The recruiter made it clear when i called them a while back that you must be able to sleep in the day and drive at night

    Like you are part hoot owl
