You throw it the same you do with the hook, expect when you roll it up, you start with the end of the starp, roll it up, then the hook will be on the outside of the roll. When you throw it over the load, you will have the hook in your hand and just be throwing the strap itself. i find it works a lot easier and does not tend to go astray like it does with the odd-weight, lopsided hook wrapped up in it.

I don't throw straps with the hook rolled up in them. That wouldn't work well. I hold most of the rolled up strap in my left hand, and grab about 2 feet from the hook in my right hand, swing it lightly back and forth once or twice, and the last time it goes back I put a little power behind it, and let it go. I'm not going to argue safety and trailer damage anymore, I can see the point there. But, there's no way throwing the hook is harder than throwing a balled up strap, if it's done correctly.

I carry a cordless drill with me. I have a large allen wrench attached in my drill, winds up very quickly.
dannythetrucker Thanks this. -
That roller would only be good for those who keep their straps on the on the winches. Like Mr. Ed said though, once it gets wet in freezing temps or even mud getting in it, game over. I use one of these and store my straps in the side boxes on the truck. http://www.uscargocontrol.com/Flatbed-Trailer-Products/Truck-Tie-Downs-Web-Winches/Strap-Winder?utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=strap%20winder&utm_content=770397463&utm_campaign={BING-USCC%20Winch%20Straps}
