Does an 08 Cat or Cummins have exhaust aftertreatment? If so, they won't be compatible.
Not paying your debt and moving on is always a great way to ensure future credit being extended.
Good grief.

Option 3 is the loser route. The reason the rest of us honest people pay so much for things is because low life's don't pay their debts.TURKER Thanks this.

Yep I have worked way to hard and have way to credit and pride in myself to just let it go back. The cat shop will do a 4 yr warranty covers everything but sensors regen and drivetrain. Also they do zero interest for 2 yrs on the fix
-
I'd be all over that.baha Thanks this.

Why is nobody asking what mpg this truck got before the blowup? Thats a huge factor in this decision. Id expect it to go up after the rebuild. But if its really bad just trade in the truck.
-
That deal is because you have a good payment history.
Freightlinerbob Thanks this. -
There is more to this game besides MPG, although it is a large factor.
He owes $28k and will get $4.5K on a trade. To make up $23.5K plus interest just on MPG on another truck he had no history with
vs $21K interest free on the rebuild.
Your option seems like the bigger risk to me. -
I averaged pretty much 5.2ish. Hope to keep it two years let it work and pay its debt off then try and sale with warranty still avail on it.
-
At $4/gallon the difference between 5.25 and 6.5 is $014/mile. To cover $23,000 of debt with a different truck will take 168,000 miles.
So for the first 168,000 miles he may as well be getting 5.25 with the different truck. Assuming it will get 6.5 in the first place. -
chris27,have you called any salvage places to ask what they want for a used CAT?
