Hey fellas and Ladies, what's up? Got a few quick questions for you all. I'm a flatbedder looking at the possibility of getting into pulling tanker. Would Like to know as a possible rookie tanker yanker, a list of companies that are good with training 1st timers as well as good companies to work for. What can I expect from tanker life? Is the money good or at least decent? How are customers? Do you have a lot of appointment times, etc. I'm a 10yr flatbedder that's looking at a possible change. I live in Augusta, Ga. Also would like a list of companies to check out. Thanks in advance. -TBC

Superior Carriers is where I work. It's a good company, the Augusta terminal has good people working there, easy to get along with and they look out for you. You can give them a call Monday.

I was a flatbedder, I'll never go back. I doubt I will ever pull anything but a tank again. Money is better and less work. I don't know why anyone would switch back but to each his own.

Just clownin' from a rookie.TheBigCat Thanks this. -
I know Quality Carriers has a terminal in N Augusta and will train you in the tank aspect. QC is mostly individually owned terminals (called Affiliates) and the pay and benefits vary between them. But the $$ are usually good and the work is easy.
slim shady and TheBigCat Thank this. -
I switched from skates to tanks....best move i ever made. Try the best kept secret....Liquid Cargo. Terminals in Savannah, Newark, NJ, Chicago, and Texas...not sure of the city. I am leased on to em. Pay is really good, and they will train those who have at least one good year of trucking....

Living in Augusta puts u midway between 2 A&R Transport terminals, ATL and Florence, SC. Both have their plus and minus qualities, best advice would be to call both terminals and speak with the managers.
