If schneider is listening to you sleep, then it's time to send the incriminating pictures to the wives.

and another company that would take that as sufficient. SNI has we have been made acutely aware does not. SO you are absolutely free to not take the study. You are not by any means being forced to do so. BUT you will not be able to drive for this company.

If I may, as a driver with apnea succesfully treated via cpap, do not belittle this. I drive daycab so bringing my machine everyday isn't always needed. the times I have been caught out without it though, the difference in restful sleep was easily felt.
You are absolutely free to have whatever opinion about this that you wish, but it is real, it can be treated, At least with SNI it isnt a scam to make money, its complately covered by them for treatment and testing. YOu have personal issue, then seek employment elsewhere. If not, I want to know what your truck number is and where you seem to run so I can avoid you as best as I can.

I agree with the first part, it has to be evaluated case by case but the second part is moot. Under the FMCSA and other patient privacy/rights laws, there is no right that exists other than the privacy of the records of that patent.

But they do have legal grounds to tell you what your medical options are, you can either get it treated or they terminate your employment. The treatment plan becomes part of your work record in a way, no HIPAA coverage with this. They can also require periodic checks to see if you are following the treatment plan. All of this is caused by the knee jerk reaction to the idea that we are always fatigued and need to be fixed.

IF you want to know how it all came about, there was a study done by U of V a while ago, which took in account fatigue of drivers in accidents. There was a lot of assumptions made but the really interesting thing is that in the study right in the first paragraph of the executive overview was the statement that this study didn't indicate fatigue played a roll in accidents. Furthermore the study didn't even include trucks. Since that time, we had a do-good group (whose founder was recently praised by the USDOT and FMCSA for her work) that pushed for this crap.

Circling back to my DOT exam at Concentra. I get a call 2 days later from them saying they need more information for my file based on the Doctor's notes concerning the chest surgery I had 2 years ago. I loss my cool and tell the called to tell that overweight Doctor to have her hearing checked. I told her the chest surgery occurred when I WAS 2 YEARS OLD.

a hundred years ago people were not so fat and they died around 40 years of age. nowadays they can give you all kind of meds and machines to keep you going.
i will not do any thing else and i gotta keep working so i lost all the weight and run almost a mile a day and work out and am 57 years old.
our company is 260 day cab trucks.they have been hiring some fat boys lately and are not trying to sell them sleep studies and cpap machines and monitoring their sleep and telling them to sleep alone and watching them with cameras.
we are experienced drivers and use an internet radio system and rarely check our location because its just as easy to ask.
if you are an experienced driver and you need all that bs dont be whinin about it
