Correct. I don't know why anyone would even consider, but 2 have been sold. I've seen videos from Holset showing the dangers of imitation turbos and a live demo.

    Richter Thanks this.

Cummins has a very large engine building operation in China, over a million a year, as does CAT, you want to Google it up. Just because it does not say where it is from does not mean it is american made. From the look of things most every engine supplier has operations in China.

Im not saying china products are always bad. My bose headphones are assembled in china and they are awesome.....but, im not gonna risk anything but a genuine part on my motor. If the genuine part is from china, id buy it, but not some imitation part from anywhere.

I think what I'm getting at is there is a difference between knock off and genuine parts. While it is discouraging to see any parts made in China, genuine parts from Cummins or potential knock off, this just has a big red flag. There is no brand name on this turbo to begin with, so I can't really call it a knock off. All I can say, I would not feel comfortable shelling the money out for one of these.

Those engines stay over there as well because they are being built for those regulations. Most everything for holset I have seen says made in Great Britain and maybe some in the US, I'm almost sure the same can be said for borg warner as far as parts sourcing for turbos.

Companies souse parts from all over the world, just because a turbo, or any other part says it is from somewhere does not mean all the parts in it are made there.
    Just a thought!

Once again, you missed my entire point. Please re-read my post, there is a difference between GENUINE parts, after market and then knock offs. IE, brake pads that are made out of card board but look like the real thing. Or, fake Viagra made out of dry wall and food coloring, but it looks just like the real thing! These are dangerous things, its like buying a counterfeit iPhone that can blow up in your face. We don't know anything about this turbo, and being it ships directly from China, it makes you wonder.
