So it is like other EOBRs which use a backend and a subscription service to pull the data from the unit to the server to the user in order to be compliant. By the way, there are no FMCSA certified units on the market, EOBR regs are written just like other DOT regs, there is a self-certification method used so anyone who writes an app or program (like DDL) can certify their app or program. the new proposed ELD-EOBR stuff takes it a step further by having a third party certify the unit (among a few other changes), which to me reeks of big money for the manufacturers and testers and a trap for us.
Best GPS unit?

I can most certainly ask how the certification is done.
Thanks,
mark -
you tap the certification button. and that's it.

Update - the reg is 395.15 that details the certification for the EOBR. RM will supply a Letter if the user requests it.
Thanks,

I just bought a 32 Gb Nexus tablet with a monstrous 10.1" screen.
Looking forward to getting CoPilot up and running on it. I need to find a mount that can hold the beast, first. -
I'm planning on checking with diesel boss, maybe he has the solution. -
Stile and Skydivedavec Thank this.

is it really that hard for a company to grab the best of Rand, Garmin, Cobra, etc. and come up with a GPS unit that avoids all actual 13'6 structures, 34k lb or less roads according, shows legal alternate rte in timely fasion, etc. and shows walmarts, casino's, open rest areas, and other parking areas using the latest google earth, DOT, Rand Mcnally trucker atlas data?
