I saw a coastal truck and evidently they have the costco contract so that's a good sign

In Arizona, Western has the contract but Coastal runs the occasional load I guess when Western needs help...least that's what my trainer said.

I quit 2 months ago after 8 months there. I worked long days... typically 12-14 hours and sometimes long runs with no backhauls (you are not paid empty miles). We had one run where you load.. run 162 miles to offload... 125.00... then have to run 180 miles back to the yard for free to end the day since there were not enough hours after to run another load. Had more than a few days where I came in and only ran 1 run.. then was sent home... 40.00 for the day. Overall once I calculated it I averaged about 12.00/hr. Out of DFW we were paid 40.00/load for up to 25 miles... long wait times at the rack and detention starts at 2 hours... 10.00/hr. It just wasn't worth it to me and from what I hear from a few friends even the veterans are looking to jump ship since the new terminal manager is a big vinegar solution cleansing bag. The consensus on the trailers is right on.. old as hell and no plans to update. They were in process of upgrading from old Internationals to Autoshift Volvos. Each terminal is different from what I hear, however. DFW is just a big cluster from what I gathered and one of the least revenue producing terminals in the network. Good luck on whatever decision you make.

Then things must be much different out here at the Tucson terminal because everyone has plenty of work. The most we've waited so far at the rack was about 10min and all miles are paid...made sure to ask the manager that when I got my application. The entire fleet has been upgraded to the Volvos with only one International left as a backup truck. Detention starts after one hr and is $15/hr.

Yeah, I was getting the shaft in TX by Coastal then. If your making that it is a pretty sweet gig. Someone once told me each terminal pays their own wage so it is no set standard... what AZNoobie is saying is most likely right. If anyone lives in TX, however, I don't recommend them so much as the pay scale is about standard through the network and turnover is rather high at every terminal.

currently in san Antonio. city loads pay 46 bucks. anything outside 26 miles it starts paying more. pump offs are xtra 15.oo. truck moves 15.oo. split loads 15.oo. all new drivers start on night shift once out of training. length on nights depends on seniority. all new drivers slip seat. again wait for your own truck depends on seniority, when I started it took about six months to move to days and get my own ride. I know one of the newbies last year went to days and their own ride in 3 months. we were driving old 2002 Volvos till last year. we now have new 2012-2013 Volvos. all automatics. company has treated me great the 3 years I have been there. theres plenty of work if your not to lazy to ask for it. i.m avg about 1000.00 a week take home if I just handle my business. recently cleared 1500.00 just by asking for an xtra load or two a day. all they have ever asked of me is to do my job and if you make a mistake tell somebody! making mistakes happens if you tell them no major problem. if they find out from an outside source because you tried to cover it up, you are soooooooooooooooooooooo fired! as I said I love working at the san Antonio terminal. have no plans on leaving anytime soon. if ya have any more ? send them to me.

dm: The Diamond Reo is in the barn in the back corner of the SA terminal. Or at least it was when I hired on back in early 2007.
