Had some hiccups in my plan today. Woke up early in the customer's lot in Memphis, logged on duty and pre trip as they came in and I opened the trailer doors for them to unload their half of the load. Then got a call from my DM saying "don't proceed to NC until I get a firm appointment for final delivery"!??? Dang! The original load offer had a firm appointment, now I realize they don't have an appointment.
So I head to Memphis terminal, see if they'll swap my POS KW700 for a new truck. No go.
Wait for 4 hours for CSR to get back to my DM with an appointment, then he finally calls and tells me to proceed to NC and hope CSR comes back with an appointment time. Get the time, but it's not feasible because of the Memphis delay. No matter what I'm going to get stuck in Atlanta rush hour traffic, either tonight or tomorrow morning. I opted to stay at the Flying J in Temple, GA to stay out of questionable ability to find a safe place for a 10 further down the road...
... and because this particular stop features the ability to stretch my legs and walk over to the Ingles grocery market. Scored some organic baby arugula and fresh organic herbs, it's like a poor man's Whole Paycheck Market...
... the young lady that rang up my purchase was worth the walk (oops! don't tell my wife...)...
... anyway, did a Mac-22 and all should be well tomorrow. I'll find out whether I'm doing my orientation in Greer or maybe back in Memphis tomorrow. Wouldn't mind running out the last of my 70 back to Memphis if that's possible. I'll have 2800 miles by the end of tomorrow for the payday week, and it would be interesting to see if I can get to 3400 within a 70. That would be "rad".
By the way, this KW has had a "Water in the Fuel" alert every time it rains. Can't be a bad mix of fuel, it only happens when it rains hard. Possibly a leaky charge air cooler? But that would mean loss of turbo power. Hard to figure.

Denver, CO taking a short home time.
We went to see the new X-Men movie yesterday. Pretty good movie.
And I got my daughter on the truck with me today for her ride along.
A guy offered to polish my wheels for $20 and I accepted, then went back to watching Farscape with my daughter.
We went out to get some munchies a bit later and the guy was gone, but his stuff was still there by the rear drive.
I figured he had gone inside to use the restroom or something, but he never came back.
He had finished one complete side, and did a really good job.
So now I have one shiny side and one dull, and I'm worried something bad happened to him. Maybe the security here hauled him away. I don't see any other reason his stuff would be left there. -
sucks for that guy if so, I dont see them too often but once in awhile. I think I have only seen people polishing a handful of times. I see the dvd pirates more often but I always shoo them away since I download my own stuff for free and I refuse to pay for a crap quality movie.
sitting at home for my days off now, been sick with some kind of sinus infection or cold so will be nice to relax some. -
He was back this morning.
He said something about his girlfriend cheating on him and a bunch of other stuff, then he couldn't find my truck for a while.
He got lucky. His wallet and phone were in the bag he left sitting there next to my truck, and they were undisturbed when he got back this morning.
He finished up the other side, and I paid him $40 for his trouble. He really did do a great job on the wheels. -
I would like to have polished wheels but not going to pay for Swifts truck to be cleaned, if I had my own truck I would put a little more pride. When I got that brand new 2014 I kept them polished myself until the truck was taken.

The only time the truck I drive looks clean is when it rains lol
-
I keep the inside spotless as well as all glass and my headlights...could care less about the rest of the truck. I never get near a terminal with a truck wash on my account and I am not about to use my money to wash their truck lol.
Spending the night in Goshen, IN at Walmart tonight. Deliver in the morning just up the road and then head to Decatur, IN for my load back to SC and do it all over again. -
the DC has a mobile crew come out a couple times a month but the only problem is they come when im sleeping in my truck and I cant sleep in it on the property. My manager said he will allow me to go once a month to get a truck wash as long as I stay within $40, I just havent been able to get around to it yet.

On a night with no moon and dark sunglasses my truck looks clean enough.

Made it to Greer. After live unload the last half of my trailer in Charlotte got an immediate drop and hook to t-call in Greer. Tomorrow I have a free day and they already have me doing two runs, down to Georgia and back so I'll pick up about 450 miles tomorrow. All told this will be my best week for mileage since joining Swift, I'll end up about 3200-3300 miles.
Thursday I'll be taking mentor orientation.
I saw several new trucks in the yard. No Cascadias. Maybe I'll try a Prostar. Need some interior space for teaming with students, and I really want a tight turning radius if at all possible.
