I Have A Question: Does unions really help you as far as manager or supervisor trying to fire you with out a warning, first time ever getting written up and my attendance very good never missed a day never late and been at the job for eleven months going on twelve, well the company delivers food very big company, ya the manager just fired me, I think it wasn't fare the company is Sysco San Francisco,I am trying to come to terms that,I just have to wait to see what happens, that its out of my hands,
so what I wanted to know is if the union really got our back's when it comes down to the problem that I have Now,I heard a lot about they can't fire you just like that if you are in the union i mean it has to be a good cause,
and I past my Probation Period, that's A good thing I hope, well I would really be thankful if somebody could give me a little info on being a union member, this is my first time ever in a union.thank's.

What was the reason for Termination given by the manager? It is impossible to give you advice w/o knowing the facts.

Usually there is a 3 strikes your out. Your ba or stewart should have been aware of any problems before termination. Unless it is a big problem then termination immediately.

You will find that a Union may or may not back you up. It will depend on the risen you were fired. It will also depend on you. If you are a jerk sometimes the Union looks the other way. Sometimes the union is a little on the lazy side and you have to demand they stand up for you. Usually, if you are in a UNION shop which I personally believe everyone should be, they do not fire you without a good reason.

You should know in your own heart whether the Union has your back. Why did they fire you?

well what happened was awhile back I miss read the manifest and my first stop it was a key drop and when I was trained I was told that when you have a key drop and the freezer is you know one of those reach in ones
the ones you have to put it on a shelf well the only freezer I saw at the time was a few of those reach in ones so I just put a few frozen products like ten or so I set them in front of the reach in's so that way when they get in they could see them and put them away, and some of the product was poultry,so I miss read the manifest in the morning it actually said on the paper work to put the freezer in the walk in freezer, and I didn't and for that the management want's to
terminate me but there is more to it,I felt that the manager prior to this been riding me for everything like a long story short I felt like he was looking for any reason to fire I felt like that for around three weeks before this happened
but I still feel like that shouldn't be a terminating offense that is way to hard on me no warning shots or nothing.that was wrong, I mean whats right is right if I got caught doing wrong then I'm going to man up and take whatever I have coming to me this is way to hard lose your job?
