Finally kicked this load off. Running recap and did all of 160 miles yesterday and then got up at midnight to deliver this morning at 0700 460 miles away. Then had just enough time to make it to Sapp Brothers here in Sidney, NE to wait on more hours to come back tonight. Good hours the rest of the week, though. Recap still sucks.

Spending the night outside of Chicago close to Wisconsin border. Only had 8 hours today so stopped early waiting for more hours around 1am. Should make it to Minneapolis by 8am appt. Then I should have about 2-3 hours left for the day until the next day. Will see what I get loaded with.

Flatbedn I can't complain my dm is pretty nice to me and I seem to get along with her. Majority of loads are definitely over 1000 each time. A few 700 loaded ones but there's usually 1-200 miles of deadhead with that. We will see what I get once I'm unloaded

I'll be traveling on the 90/94 all the way to Minneapolis I'll wave to you guys if I see ya!

Maybe someone can chime in with more knowledge, but I didn't think the DM had a lot of sway over what we get. My understanding is the planners use our Macro 63, along with home time request, TWIC, HazMat, etc to match a load in the driver's area. There may be some type of tag the DM can do, since I have asked for a general direction (West, North) before. The last time I did that, I was sent east on the next load, then headed west. My experience is that if I get a couple of shorter loads, there is usually a couple of longer ones that make up for it.

If I ever get back through Tulsa (been there twice in 10 moths), I think I will ask for a walk through of what the procedure/process is. Then again, it is like Forrest said, "Life is like a box of chocolates." We just prefer some over others, but have to take what we get.

As far as load planning, I hear the same as you. Don't know if it always done like that or not, but that's what they tell us!

They tell us that. But I am not always sure. When my DM takes any time.off there is a difference in my loads. A very noticeable difference.

Yep I noticed the same. But I was kept on the short 400-600 milers. Partially had to do with my leaving but not entirely.

DH 360 miles from Sidney to Norfolk, NE. Spending the night at Cubby's. Pickup at Nucor Cold Finish just around the corner (2 miles) @0700 for a planned re-power in Walcott, IA, as soon as I can get it there. The guy on the re-power gets word that I am already there and SMS's me wondering where I am parked. Now he knows the rest of the story as I know it. He kicked his load off this morning, so it looks like I will get an mt. I get paid for the miles so it doesn't really matter. I know my view of the world, from the truck perspective, is like looking through a straw. But I think it would be really scary to see the big picture sometimes.

Short trips?? I Delivered Monday in Arthur IL, got deadheaded 200 miles to Alcoa in IA to get 5 efin coils with one stop in Ambridge PA and final destination here to Southington CT...over 1200 total. Been on my 10 since 3 o'clock.. Since I'm due home time after coming off the trainer's truck, I had a choice between taking this load or go to El paso for 1400 miles, but that would keep me out much longer so I choose this one..I guess some of you are right, they do give the most miles to those who get paid less..
