Good luck to you. Keith will push you hard at times and others it seems like he's not there. But he will also push your buttons at times. Over all he's a great guy and DM some wish we could have stayed on his board though. LoL
If you have any questions for him just ask. He has a great deal of knowledge and you have us group of nuts to ask as well. Make sure you have the apps for Love's, PFJ, TA Petro, My Dat trucker if you have a so called smart phone and bookmark this site for EFS http://efsrc.promilesonline.com/EFSTruckStops/ByRoute.aspx

Thanks for the EFS link, that site I had never visited. It makes it easier to compare fuel prices if they keep it updated, get how y'all are saying Pilot/flying j is usually not the cheapest even with a 5 cent discount. Although I will probably use Pilots the most I will find times not too.
All those apps I do have and a few more, I use an IPhone 5 so of course. Remember I've been driving OTR with 4-5 other companies over the last 4 years, just not as a lease purchase owner driver. JCT has some nice qualities, that other companies don't.
Keith was being informative an i respected originally. I went back into say that I couldn't find the empty that I was assigned an he got alittle hostile about it, "you didn't look very hard", and made a point that they had done 2 yard checks and it was there. Walked out mad yelling this is no better than blank company, after threatening to quit. Finally saw Mike out on yard and told him, all he said was take a deep breath, I'm not the first one a DM has told you must be blind.
So that was almost a problem but was settled fast. I got to learn patience, for me it's always dispatch problems, I know my job otherwise perfectly. Keith is one of the most knowledgeable ones there. He started back in the 70's as as a driver himself, he has 2 sons that drive, his father taught him growing up.
Also he is the orientation DM with alot of drivers so I'm sure hes under alot of stress an busy, so when I or any driver comes in with stupid questions it becomes bothersome.
So that's understood an got to get the job done an be professional with dispatch, I will make up for it when I'm running a load to prove myself. Anyways you all have a great evening, drive safe. -
is there a big difference in fuel economy having full tanks vs half or 1/4 full? and ive seen some bad MPGs on these threads (even had some myself), but im sure most drivers would take 7.9 any day of the week (and maybe twice on sunday)...

Just wanted to jump in and say hello to everybody. Hope things are going well for all. Myself, I'm headed to Tacoma to deliver Friday morning then take the remainder of the day off before reloading Saturday to head back to Oklahoma.

I just got screwed getting fuel in OR. Even though I put in all the info; the system still charged me $3.99 a gallon. Complained about to the manager and was told nothing they can do. Happened to two other drivers from different companies. Yep. Not happy. Will not be getting fuel from Toutdale TA ever again.
The TA was cheaper than Loves. -
Sure there is. They need to call EFS, void transaction and re-run it at the lower price. Then I would call the Loves customer service and raise holy hell.
That's like buying any item and it rings up incorrectly. If you point it out, they void it and re-ring at the correct price.
The manager is either to lazy to deal with the "inconvenience or is totally clueless.Last edited: Jun 26, 2014

Hey guys. What phone apps do u guys use to track your mpg?
-
Just got done running a load with a guy Traffic knows from his orientation - Fester.
Really cool guy, total old schooler. He reminded me more of (pre-death) John Locke from Lost than Fester, though.

You can do it yourself or ask Laura Watkins for the Excel version of the fuel sheet. It keeps track of your truck fuel, DEF fuel, and APU usage. You can monitor your tank mpg, overall mpg, DEF consumption by tank and overall. APU hours between fillups (so you know how much fuel you're using in addition to the Qcomm usage +keep track of hours for service reasons) and monitor ECM usage to compare that to your actual physical fill up.
If Laura can't get them for you, PM me and I can send it to you or anyone else that would like it. There is a blank version (where you plug the numbers in and use a calculator to get your figures) and an Excel version that calculates everything for you.
