My ac works great as long as I'm moving if I come to stop lights or idling I get warm air my first thought is the main fan supposed to run anytime the air is on ?

Checking the main fan is the first place I would start.
When you have some time, this series of 7 videos will give you a good understanding of the AC system no matter which truck you drive.

Sounds to me like the engine fan isn't running when it should although you haven't quite said that. So I conclude that while you are moving, there is enough airflow to make the AC work but while you are stopped, there isn't any airflow and the fan should take over but isn't. Do you have a fan over- ride switch? If so, try turning it on while stopped and see what happens.

I don't believe it is running but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be I know it comes on when the engine gets to about 210 cause I hear it . so I guess my question is should it be coming on at idle if I turn the ac on?

Yes. Periodically. The fan cools the condenser when airflow isn't sufficient, much like when the fan comes on to cool the engine.
