Out west seems to be where its at. I know lots of people who moved out there doing good for themselves. oh and whats wrong with ft mcmurray? I heard they pay even more out there. Is it dangerous? drug infested?

This seems like good advice. I don't have a spouse or kids at the moment, and I think I can pull this off. I mean it wouldn't hurt to rent a motel every now and then, but I can see my doing this for sure.

wow that is commitment. 30 years of following through with your goal? that is inspiring. But your right, finance and planning ahead is a skill I need to add to my repertoire.
I'm not tied down to anything, I do want to relocate and preferably wherever pays most. And yes the game plan is what I need that's what I'm looking for here.

Plenty of knowledgeable folks indeed! I'm happy with the reply's and help from everyone so far. thanks everyone, I really appreciate it!

Hi El, I don't mean to be a wet blanket ( not very comforting), but to be perfectly honest, I'm not so sure trucking is for you, at least not yet. I would however get out of your current situation, and come to America, and find a job and do more research. This site is inundated with people who don't have many skills, and pour thousands of dollars into schools to drive a truck, only to find out, it's not all it's cracked up to be. It's long hours, lonely, not big money, at least to start, somewhat dangerous, and boring. Oil field jobs are kind of like dump truck jobs, over the same route, over and over, usually in the middle of nowhere, and living in a company provided quonset hut. If you are a people person, health care, and customer service industry are very big now. I'm not totally putting trucking down, it still can be an option, I spent 35 years there, but have seen many people come and go, because they weren't prepared for what the job involved. Best of luck to you.
