Cal, you are spot on with this post. I wish I could have said it so eloquently:) There are those who should be applying for a job here but there are a lot who should think it over. This is not the job it was...will never be again. Respect for a driver's skill, honesty, knowledge, integrity, will, safety, experience, attitude and determination to make the company succeed are over. You are just a number now.... and a 100% turnover is not considered a bad thing. C

Or in my case, Walmart violated multiple Federal statutes and had prevented me from returning to work for EIGHT MONTHS! Hard to believe this much time has passed. Fortunately for Walmart, the outside attorney they hired to represent them in the case I had the EEOC bring against them was wise enough to point out just how dangerous their actions are and the amount of liability they will be held accountable for. In the past 10 days, Walmart had this attorney notify the EEOC with a desire to settle this case. I will recoup what was lost during this time and those responsible will be disciplined by the EEOC. Within the next few weeks I may be back driving again.

I do not wish this scenario on any fellow Walmart driver. Do not be so naive in thinking you will never be targeted. My case involved high level managers in Bentonville, so this was not a local problem at my DC. It will, if ever at all, take a long time to regain trust I lost in many Walmart managers.

Good post Cal, When a company is topped out on growth they always start looking inward and cutting cost. When a company is growing fast and times are good, their employees are usually happy. I see this topped out situation at big W. If you drive for Werner or other over the road job paying around 50,000 a year big W is still a good job to you. If you drive for freight lines or a fuel hauler or cryogenics hauler and home on weekends making 65 to 80 a year then big W is not worth it. Older guys at big W will tell you it's not worth it anymore, just depends on if you have a good job already or not.

I've read this forum from top to bottom. It seems that this still is the job to have in the trucking industry. Talking with countless Wal-Mart drivers on the road and although no companies perfect. It seems they do care a great deal about their drivers.

Just an update to quash any rumors...the company announced last week that they are looking at on board cameras. ( I posted the fist tests 2 years ago and no one believed that) The system they are going to initially test will have one forward and two rear facing cameras that record constantly but will save 10 minutes each side of a CER. There will be an inside camera trained on the driver in the same way. They will test random snap shots of drivers also. This way they can catch you talking on the phone, not being in the sleeper berth during break, eating, seat belt use, not exiting properly, reaching for anything, yawning, scratching your privates, etc. If you find any of this disturbing....

I'm sure that your information on the driver facing camera is as accurate as your phone policy information was at first.

The driver facing camera is a rumor only.

What part of the below statement posted 3-17-13, six and a half months before the official policy became effective, is not true?

Let Walmart put a driver facing camera in the truck. They will have fun navigating all the Federal and State wiretapping and privacy laws. Just telling a driver he will be fired for not complying will not work. This will make plenty of attorneys much wealthier.

Firing from the hip again:biggrin_25513: Might want to really listen to those qualcomm messages instead of glossing over them. This comes from Steven Garrish at safety. They actually did test a system about two years ago but it went down in flames for some reason. With the Delaware issue safety is pressing the issue. You might remember the "strict" cell phone policy was about to become law until some good old boy politicking in Bentonville with the senior drivers got the legal dept involved. This became the trial programs in Sealy and Brookhaven. I can assure you though that the speeches announcing the resounding success of these programs was written the same week the programs were rolled out and sometime within the next couple of months it will be a company wide policy. If they failed...heads would roll:biggrin_25521:...

If you want to know more about the camera policy..just ask your safety man or Steven himself. They will gladly fill you in on this....rumor:biggrin_2554:...and you can get back to us on what they said.

I have got to hear from my good friend Grabber on this...he will save the day I am sure:biggrin_25517:

Hi MrKlean....I will take issue only on the last sentence...that attitude is changing...quickly. Transportation is now run with managers from other companies with 150% turnover and they cannot see why we do not have more of that. Still, if you are miserable at your job...give this a try...if you are happy with what you are doing and can provide for your family...why shackle your self to a corpse?
