My dispatcher is on vacation

My dispatcher is apparently on vacation. From what I heard, when your main dispatcher goes on vacation things starts to go a little "out of order." Today we had a trip plan changed after already arriving at the location. So we had to drive at the new location for another 1hour. Is this normal when your dispatcher goes on vacation?
