Take it Volvo on Ayr,ON ; on hwy 401 exit 268 imo the best Volvo technicians in North America, ; this is my 2nd Volvo i've been in most of the Volvo shops from California to Texas to western Canada. I have 1,290 000 miles on my original D13/2008. never had this problem , i like the motor and But the injector cups sux,o did the job 3 times, and looks like I'll have to do it again, I'm getting a long cranking, the diesel drains back in tank. I upgrated to steel cups in 2010, this lasted way better about 550k miles.

Well boys; I had no luck at all. I replaced the air compressor, the coolant tank, the thermostat, the injector sleeves and the EGR cooler. It is still pushing the coolant out, it foams, builds pressure and overflows but does not overheat. Another truck driver who use to be a mechanic went with me to a few stores in Mississauga. We purchased a large rubber house that fits into the intake manifold, a tool and die maker made an adapter to the house with an old air valve from the tire guys attached to it. We blew 40 lbs of air into the intake manifold and the air started to bobble into the cooling tank. What a simple test. Volvo kept testing for combustion gases into the expansion tank and never had the idea to test it this way. It is not always from the combustion. This head had a crack the let the turbo compressed air escape into the coolant passages on the head. I am taking it to the shop Monday and will not tell them anything about our findings just to see the kind of BS they can come up with...

My d12 2001 was doing this. It turned out to be injector cups. Repair has held for 350k miles.
