Mrh, I've been to Oakland, I even walked around it... But I was probably 20 years old (I'm 27 now) at the time and didn't realize where I was and that mentality that 'nothing is going to happen to me I'm invincible' was sure in.
Ever been to US Steel in Gary? That area sure doesn't look great...
But Im used to LA being from cali so I just make sure to keep looking around me

I'm at a truck stop in Carthage, Texas near the border or Louisiana. I've got about 180 miles to go.. So I'm pretty set for Monday. After I drop off I think it's about 200 miles to where the last drop is.

I had my first hard brake critical today... All these highways going through small towns I don't like. Well I was at a red turn light there was about 5 cars in front of me waiting, light turns green they make it once I get before the line it turns yellow and almost instantly turns red. There was a cop to my right, and this intersection had cameras. I guess I freaked out a little bit cause I definitely didn't want a ticket by the camera or the cop. So I didn't run it, I was only up to about 15-20 mph but I think the panic made me press the brake with more force than usual. There were no cars in front of me, it was my turn just light turned too quick. Think I'll get a phone call about it?

I'm ready for some sun. Everywhere I've been the past weeks have felt like nothing but rain, thunderstorms, more rain. I get sunlight for an hour or two and back to more rain and clouds. This week included.

Anyone else have problems with their windshield wipers? I've had 2 fly off while in use, another the rubber came off twice. And it always happens when I seem to need them!

 

I wanted to go that way but was pretty sure it would take about 2.5 hours. From CASS to 505 on 80 is just over 50 miles. Nearly all of that 50 miles is city driving and in rush hour, that's no fun! I took 980/24/680/242/4/160/12 to lodi. 76 miles or something like that, took around and hour and a half. It's a lot of open land once you get out of the oakland area. Wasn't too bad.

can't deliver until Monday in post falls, so I'm taking my time. Slept in today, got going around 9. I've got hours to run but nowhere to be! Only 400ish miles today, shut down at Gordys truck stop in La Pine OR. Ate at their restaurant and let me tell you what... I wasn't impressed with the food or the service. Showers at Gordys are only $8 tho, not great showers but it's free after you turn in your receipt!

Woke up the other day and turned on all my lights for pre trip, headlight fault message came up on the dash. I've been having problems with the passenger side headlight for a year now, I've put 4 bulbs in it. Sometimes the bulb is still good, disconnect and reconnect the bulb and it works again. Magic. Not this time, both headlights were blown, probably as soon as I hit the switch. I have no idea why. I figure it's an electrical problem somewhere, well beyond my expertise. the glass is never cracked so i know its not my greasy fingers causing the problem. Went inside and bought 2 bulbs and they work just fine.

 

Post falls ID. 2 miles from final. Another slow day. 7 more days until I'm supposed to be home. Can't afford hometime but I'll be there long enough to kick the dog off my truck.

 

I had the same issue with the lights. The shop kept putting 100 watt bulbs in. I put 55 watt bulbs and no more issues.

 

I keep putting in 100 watt bulbs...

 

You can melt the harness doing that. Use 55w.

I just realized that my appt for tomorrow is at 1000... if you asked me what time my appt was 10 minutes ago, id have bet you my whole check that it was 0700. Sorcery. Or voodoo. Someone in tulsa is manipulating my QC messages... tomorrow is going to be a long day.
