Well, I will give you an example. There are guys out there that will weigh every load. Then there's guys like me that don't weigh anything and just run it. I wouldn't pay for a weight slip every load. Tolls, there isn't a toll you can't get around except the bridges in the east, GW, Walt Whitman, and so on. I'm not saying it's not an inconvenience but, it can be done. With fuel as high as it is, you're almost better off paying the toll. That's a different subject. I would keep an agreed amount for the truck and split everything else. I like to run the way I want to run. I can, I pay for the fuel. You wouldn't like to pay for my fuel though. Splitting it doesn't hurt so bad. Idling same thing at .5 gal an hour, that adds up as well. Be careful the guy or girls isn't going to destroy your truck. I would make them pay for unnecessary repairs. I'm a prick.

That would be the ticket .....I'd say at worst your hand would leave you holding the bag on a big breakdown which you would have to have fixed anyway......

The only time i ever seen it work was i hired drivers that split the Net Profit with me but it was more like 80/20 them getting the 80% but that was after every thing was paid for we set an amount out for repairs every thing was done on percentage. IE we had a maint fund we had a replacement fund after the truck was paid for so we could keep running good equipment and it was the drivers truck to run remembering the more he saved the more he made and it worked out real well for every body.

just pay the driver 25 to 30% of the gross. that's how this is usually done. you are making more headaches then needed.

I'd gladly drive for 50/50 split of gross. For 50/50 split of net you can take a flying leap. see what I'm saying? there isn't enough net to split like that

Well Glad To See As With Everything Else No 2 Truckers Can Decide On Anything, But Hey Thats Just How That Goes. Well Anyway I Think The Driver Would Have Been Better Off To Just Let Me Pay Him 26% Of The Gross As I Suggested, But He Really Wants To Try It This Way. I Guess Its Good For Me Though Since The Amount Of Fuel And Price Are Gonna Affect His Check It Should Make Him Pay Attention To The Price And Discourage Idling When It Is Unnessasary. I Ran A Few #'s On Some Previous Loads And It Seems To Me That Sometimes It Would Have Payed More On A 26%, But Like I Said The Driver I Hired Insisted He'd Worked This Way For Other Owners And Liked It So Hey If His Paycheck Is Smaller From His Decision I Guess Thats His Problem Not Mine.

I would be a terrible boss. I am a f### you person. I would have an empty truck all of the time. One little thing like a broken light wire that he could see, and didn't fix it. That would be the end of him. The way I see it, if the driver couldn't perform to my standards, he wouldn't drive my truck. My standards are pretty high. I know this and that's why I never pursued the "fleet" thing. I think theres a lot of foolish spending going on. I like this split thing. Why would I have to pay FULL price for someone's stupidity? I couldn't imagine hearing this, " Huh,....... I don't know how I how I backed over that Peterbilts hood,..........that's why I didn't stop. I guess that explains the two flat trailer tires and why I can't open the doors." I would end up in jail! I would agree on a % for maintenance and repairs. Remind him that if the truck goes to the shop, it costs money to get it out. The days of trading furs are over.

you're lucky if you can find a driver who wants to atually drive the truck and not sit in the truckstop with it, and can manage to not hit anything much less actually fix anything. Besides with the dumb ##### out here you don't want them fixing anything. The 359 pete I bought not too long ago I had to compleatly rewire about 60% of the truck because the guy let his drivers work on the truck.
