    Howdy TTR...

So I got my CDL in 2011, with a HazMat end. Since then I've used it on and off, doing some straight truck work here and there mixed with a little OTR. I've got about six months experience OTR within the last year and I was recently recruited by USX.

Their "pitch" to me was something called "Civa Dedicated". Apparently if you've been a licensed CDL driver w/ hazmat for over a year and have 6 months of OTR within the last 18, you qualify to run it as a team. It's a guarantee of 4700 miles a week (split) and .48cpm (split). So thats about what, 1,200 or so a week? Well when I was at Swift they literally starved me to death, and I know that making money in otr is nearly impossible without a year or more experience, so naturally I was extremely skeptical. With Swift, I was lucky to get 300 dollars a week solo.

Anyone know anything about it? I've never heard of somebody with so little OTR experience being guaranteed that kind of money, so whats the catch?

Also, if anyone knows of any other regional OTR companies that'll accept ~6 months OTR, please let me know.

Just a guess but my guess is the catch is " TEAM " and 4700 for a team isn't that many really, I think they use to guarantee 5000 a wk.. now understand if you get 4000 1 week and 5400 the next that = 4700 for both weeks its basically guarantee your team will AVG 4700 miles a week or more..

I talked to a guy the other day that sais he was on that account and it was very very good because they have their own trailers and that they were well keep and maintained..

Check out my thread. Destination Unknown page 8. Has full info.

We do Ceva. Love it. We did 6,291 miles last week. 6,291 x .48 cpm = good pay.

Got your PM, I'll let them know. A couple questions though...What region will I be running primarily? I was told it wasn't 48 which is a plus but I'm in northern california and that's where i'd take my hometime. And since it's a team, does the company make any effort to match you with somebody compatible. Can you turn down or request a teammate without consequence? Also when I was with Swift I was promised a western 11 from day one but that turned it to a "sorry you have less than one years experience so you're doing all 48." Is this "dedicated account" known for being the same type of bait and switch for guys like me with only a few months of otr? thanks.

You won't go to all 48 states, primary ones are California, Colorado, Texas, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Ohio and New Jersey. You go to the same Ceva hubs repeatedly.
For the teammate they do try to pair you with someone compatible from your area. If you don't like your teammate you can let them know and they'll try to find someone else.
Also some Ceva locations have showers which is convenient.

Here's a breakdown of my experience with CEVA dedicated:
    1. If you go home, no guaranteed mileage for the week.
    2. They will flat out tell you that they don't do 34hr resets on the account.
    3. A 4700 mile per week guarantee essentially means that every paycheck I get from USX is for 4700 miles.
    4. Don't plan on using the mobile app, because they will send you the load info 5 times. "You have 73 unread messages in the last 24 hours."
    5. Every load is either running late or has an appointment window that allows 15-20 minutes per shift for traffic/construction delays, bathroom stops, etc. Hope you like fast food and hobo showers.
    6. "This load was cancelled. When? Yesterday."
    7. "This load picks up in 10 hours. If you go to sleep, we'll cancel the load when you wake up and give you a new load that picks up 10 hours later. If you stay up, because the load doesn't pick up for 20 hours, we'll cancel it 10 hours from now and give you one that picks up ASAP."
    8. They have decent equipment with up-to-date registrations.
    9. If you ask someone how many miles they get from CEVA, it's always a lot more than you.
    10. Lie down, try not to cry; cry a lot.
