Hello I'm looking to get my CDL this year and had a question about the endorsements. I planned on going for the hazmat and tanker endorsements
but not the passenger, bus or double / triple. I don't want to take on to much to remember for the test and I didn't want to drive buses unless the money is similar
to driving trucks?
Is there a lot of work pulling double/triple or is this something you don't see to often? Is there more money in the d/t trailer hauling with the
increased risk ?
What endorsements to get?

If you want to do tanker get your doubles and triples ..
yes they are a little more work . If want to do bus..
get what you need. if you want motorcycle. get it..
if you want to fly a plane...... -
Do you need the double/triple to get work driving tankers.
? -
No.. but it helps.. double tanker are sort of common.. limited with out
Recurve Thanks this. -
Ok thanks dca I will go for that endorsement as well.
-
Just get all of them. The cost is minimal and it will give you more opportunities down the road.
Recurve, rookietrucker, Tonythetruckerdude and 2 others Thank this. -
I thought of that I just don't want to take on too much up front and fail on the parts that are really necessary for getting a good trucking job.

most of the endorsement tests are very short, and very easy. get them all, and the only one you ever have to renew, is the hazmat one, and you will have to take a hazmat test every few years.
knuckledragger and Recurve Thank this. -
Doubles and triples is if I remembner correct 15 questions? Tanker is about the same. I took and passed Triples and never even looked at the book.

If I remember right, on the one I took they had so few questions that they could ask that they had to add a few general knowledge questions to make sure they had enough questions to ask.
I was only going in for my tanker endorsement. Book I got from the MVA to study had the doubles/triples stuff at the end of the tanker section, so I saw it a couple times without even trying to. Took the test just because the lady at the counter asked me if I wanted to, and it was easy to pass from just reading the section a couple times.
Most likely having it will do nothing for you, but it's so little effort that it's worth it just in case. I needed it to get hired for one job I had, even though I never actually used it.Recurve Thanks this.
