Ok well got to reserve last night and dropped the trailer and then this afternoon hooked up to the preloaded trailer I was supposed to take to Saraland, AL to drop off and I made it 100-200 ft from yard and I got caught on the train tracks cause forgot to put landing gear up so after calling SEM and filing a claim they had me bring the trailer back to get the landing gear repaired also took me off the load I had tomorrow that was gonna take me home but from now on I am gonna pre trip my trailer twice every time cause I messed up big time and I will admit it cause I really thought I put up the landing gear but apparently I forgot

Ouch. I've forgot the landing gear a couple times but I've always heard it dragging before I got too far away. I always make it a habit to roll both windows down and turn off the radio and cb and listen when I hook up to a trailer until I'm rolling. Never know what can happen with a new trailer.

Well see with my fifth wheel not being a sliding one and being on that steel plate to give it the height the landing gear was off the ground but because the train track goes up the down it got caught

I will admit two other times I forgot them one it tugged and I saw I jumped out put them up I hadn't even moved three feet and the other time I heard them dragging so jumped out and put them up but this time it was just high enough off the ground not to do any of that

    mattbnr Thanks this.

Get in the habit of doing a couple of serpentine turns and looking at your trailer tires. You can see the landing gear and in the winter you will know if your trailer tires are frozen up.

Don't let it worry you. Everyone screws up. Just don't get in a hurry.

That sucks, but luckily no one hurt, no train smashed through the trailer, etc., so not the end of the world in the bigger scheme of things. I don't know how you pretrip but I always try to have the same exact pattern on every trailer I do. Check release handle, shine flashlight on jaws, put flashlight back in truck, connect airlines/power cord, raise landing gear (ALL the way up), then on to the rest.

You're man enough to admit your mistake, don't beat yourself up over it and move on! They'll probably have you routed through an OC on your next load to do some kind of refresher training but it shouldn't take long.

PET? Pardon my ignorance but that is one SNI acronym I haven't seen before.
