Does anybody know the requirements for driving for Publix Supermarkets? I can't find information anywhere. I even called their automated line and nothing. Thanks.

According to their web site if you want a driving job you have to first hire on in a warehouse entry level position and then after 90 days you can apply for a driving job if there is one available.
-
Yeah, that's how I read it too, but that doesn't seem logical to me.

I think that would be a pretty good gig if you could get into it. I don't know what they pay but I think you would be home every night and it seems to be a stand up company all the way around. They have a distribution center close by.

They are a great company, I worked for them in high school as a front service clerk and would go back in heart beat if I could be a driver.

It's a company that does not make their revenue from the truck. Anytime you find a company most likely it's always worth driving to.

My husband now has his one year in as OTR. He is looking for a local job. We always hear good things about Publix as a company, and my husband talked to a few former drivers who really liked it (and wished they hadn't lost their driving jobs due to their own mistakes). Our understanding is also that you have to work in the warehouse until a driving position opens up, but from the description the warehouse job doesn't sound bad. You earn an okay base pay but can earn more based on performance. There is a warehouse in Orlando. The problem is, he has been calling the job line for about 2 months and there are never any openinngs. The next time he is home, he is going to go to the HR office and put in an application. If we find anythig out, I will let you know.
