Eye on the prize. I can't help that his company trains this long but I have no way of changing it. At least I am not forced to drive team with another newbie for 8 weeks after being with a trainer like US Xpress is making people do. But I am not going to look for another company over training being 2 weeks longer than needed. You are right GENERICUSERNAME. Eye on the prize.

OP it is not that bad. Just try to learn as much from him as you can and dont cause unnecessary conflict. If he ever rubs you the wrong way let it slide always keep your eye on the prize.[/QUOTE]

Moving forward, I want to go OTR with Crete. I like their rider policy, training pay and their reputation. They Also have a main terminal 1 hour from my house.

The cab of a truck is a real small world. Do your best to blow off the little stuff, but that doesn't mean you should put up with abuse. Stay in touch with the driver manager during this time at least weekly. Ask questions about everything, and make sure you understand what your trainer requires of you whenever you're doing something that is unfamiliar.

Wild Murphy, are you overweight ? They like to diagnose drivers with Sleep Apnea. Just say no if they try to push that onto you.

Insurance companies control who gets in the seat, and if they require a test so be it. Sleep apnea is a real disease, and if you want to drive you may have to take a sleep test.

Yes you may have to take a test but not one your guaranteed to fail regardless of whether you have Sleep Apnea or not.

If you have time, talk to drivers that train. At some companies you can request a trainer. As a trainer I can request a trainee; and if he and I get along I will give him my information and he can give it to those in charge of assigning trainer and trainee and put those who already get along together. That's the process I go through when meeting my students instead of perfect strangers being assigned to me.

Ironpony, I agree that sleep apnea is a real disease. Truckduo, I am overweight and I already have been diagnosed and are currently being treated for sleep apnea. I have had it since my teens when I was thin and very healthy. My capo is the greatest thing ever invented. I also got a current sleep study done last month. My prescription is current, and I am in full compliance with using it according to DOT standards. I am fully alert all day long because of the cpap.

I would cut my own throat if I had to spend weeks living with another dude in a truck. I just can't do it. The one time I was with a trainer I was in his truck for 4 nights and it was the longest 5 days of my life!
