I love night time driving. I find it much easier than driving during the day. Easier on the eyes, basically no traffic, less BS to deal with, and all the scales are closed.

Off ramp works for me. But then, I generally don't need a truck stop unless it's time to fuel or stop for 2+ hours.Voyager1968 Thanks this.

I love driving vampire, I would say 80℅ of my runs this year I have run vampire. Shippers, of course, don't always cooperate. I'm stuck running days this week because of shippers' schedules. I like to get on the road by about 1900, drop off first thing in the morning, then park once all the day runners hit the road, and I'm usually able to find a spot at a rest stop or a restaurant for my 30.
There are challenges, like getting used to sleeping in the light/heat of the day, and running in winter before they care much about getting the roads cleared off, but, in general, the lesser traffic and construction headaches are well worth it. It also takes awhile to adjust when you have to time shift back and forth. I'll be home tomorrow afternoon, and will make myself stay up all night to get back on track before I leave again Sunday night. I don't mind shifting from days to night, but shifting from nights to days kills me. -
If there's one thing I miss about doing OTR, it's driving up to Thunder Bay on the 17/11 at night. Usually stopping halfway in Kapaskasing around 4am and then finishing the load after some shut eye. Gotta watch out for moose and deer but it keeps you alert. Too bad cell phone service is non-existent between towns and the radio barely works either. One time I had my CB on and another driver let me know about moose on the road, got me slowed down but of course they had scampered away - still was nice to know. Almost hit a moose in Longlac around 1am, had to change my diaper that night

Thnsk Ebola,
Your driving at night 1.30am is still dark out...NO?
Why do you consider yourself to be a day driver?
thanks man! -
Man...i don't know if i could do Night Driving.
Sounds like the following would be issues
1. finding a place to park (if you need to pull over and sleep)
2. How do you adjust your sleeping issues and getting hrs of sleep in? -
You are speaking of the guys that haunt the pickle parks and restroom stalls?

if my day starts later than 5 am, I'm cranky as hell. I like to get a start between 2 and 3 am also, makes for amusing looks from the cops when I'm on my motorcycle riding to work at 1:45 am. Especially knowing that I've only been up 10 minutes, and haven't had my first coffee yet.
