I found completely free CDL training and a good company to work for

Your creation of this board and the information maintained here is a great resource for many people. If people would take the time in their life to look around and investigate what a particular person wants to do, they could avoid 99% of the crap in life.

One of the first things I learned off this board was with Swift, England, etc. is that anyone can make a website with Photoshop Pro and a little bit of flash. But, it truely means nothing. I think one of the quotes on this board was "if these companies are trying so hard to hire people, then there must be something wrong." Well, from what I've found, that's absolutely correct even though our family friend J. worked for Swift on three separate occasions, maybe he's the one in a 1000 that actually did well there. I don't know, I think I would have been off to a flying stop with a company like that.

I did off this board get some hints where to look for funding for CDL training and I wanted to post that yes I had found it and there were some slot available. So, if somebody really wanted to find it out I'd tell them, but there are really only 600 slots available per year. Also, I had to make some straight out choices in what I could do to save the $5000 because we are poor right now and the $5000 would go a long way to paying off our debts. So the factor of go through this and work for a crappy company that I might be able to do something with, or put up with 3 weeks worth of paper work and then be told, "Mike you could start school on this day, (ie the grants)" turned out to be the way to go, plus I do have previous Tractor Trailer experience.

I just need to support my family in a decent lifestyle and wanted to run for a company that expected me ONLY to do legal miles and legal time, because, as I've heard on this board, now log books are kept for a 6 month period, and if anything happens they pull all of them. And to be honest, I am just too spacey to have a six month continual lie going. Sometimes I can't remember where I was last week.

Those are just some of the things I've learned here and I really appreciate it.
