My 04 cable controlled heater temp valve is about due to get replaced. It won't totally close off any more, so that now in the summer I have to shut the valves off, or the heater core stays hot. I was wondering about putting in an electric one, anybody done this? All our small vehicles have this, and they seem to work nice. The days of the cable running through the firewall to control temps should be about done? The other problem with the manual one, is that when you need just a little bit of heat, say when outside temp is around freezing, you can't get it. It's all or nothing. Not sure if it's the design of the butterfly valve, but I do know that with the electronic ones on the small vehicles, you seem to be able to set them for any temp. So, fellow star owners, anyone else had these problems, and found a solution?
heater temp control, manual to electronic?

Funny, the 13 I drive has the same issue. So in 9 years they haven't figured this out yet? Sheesh.. It really sucks in the spring when its cold at night, requiring heat, and warm during the day. I was always opening and closing those dang valves....
04 LowMax Thanks this. -
Wow, gotta be kidding! Woulda thought they for sure would have the electronic valves in by now. It's a real annoying problem too, isn't it.

most cars that I've worked on use an air door to control temps not any sort of water valve. peterbilt uses this also. the heater core stays hot and the temp control closes off air flow through the heater core preventing hot air to go through the system. WS uses red dot heaters (like macks) that use a water valve, as you know. old tech for sure.
