When I first started driving otr in the early 90s, the actual driving got monotonous. That made for very long days, or nights. Finding a way to deal with this is an individual thing. For me, it was learning to enjoy the area (landscape) I'm driving through. There is some beautiful country out there if you look for it.

Puppage, tman78 and RERM Thank this.

Having to wake up in the middle of the night with a severe case of taking a deuce and not having a bathroom near by. After 34 years of doing this I've found ways of improvising. On a similar track, getting dressed then doing the deuce shuffle across the lot at 2am and find an open pooper, only to sit down and find the paper dispenser empty.

Back in the day when I was new I would say 1 and 4 applied to the toughest part of the job. Then once I got the exp and even doing local driving, the toughest part of the job to me is just waking up knowing I have to go to work.Once you get the exp op all that you mentioned you really don't worry and wonder so much you just get up get out there and drive and can't wait till the day is over with. Some have yrs exp and still love trucking. To me its just plain boring that pays insulting wage.Right now im looking for trucking and non trucking jobs and most pay wages for someone like high school kids and the ones that pay real good are hard to get employed.I tell you what,if trucking was a motivational carreer then it wouldn't have such a high turnover rate and everyone of legal age would be doing it.
