    Hi,

I have Volvo truck with Cummins M11 engine. I got some low oil pressure warnings just a few days ago, both yellow and red lights. I had changed my oil pressure sensor and also the connector for the sensor but the problem is still there.

What might be the reason, engine is about 300k after the overhaul, oil levels are good...

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks.

Getting Low Oil pressure warnings, gauge readings don;t change at all. Gauge pressure still shows a bit under 30 on idle but the warning comes on only while driving....then the gauge readings are about the same (about 29-30) while driving...

If your oil pressure is the same idling as driving, something is clearly wrong.....not an expert on cummins, but I'd get it sorted out before #### hits the fan....

Yes I have an M11 in a '98 T800 and I agree that is weird. Has it always been like this? The oil pressure sensor that you changed...where was it located? I had mine fail a few years ago and it flashed a red light "Fluids" and it kept shutting down the engine. Gauge pressure was good though.

I have a 97 w9 with M11 I'm 14psi @ warm idle 24-29 cold, high idle warm 38 psi, sometimes be is as low 32 if it's really hot outside. I don't know a lot about it so when I bought it I was told it was 15000 fresh in frame. My mechanic says the motor is strong sounds great. I also have an i s m 99 model runs 20 sittingn 40 going

My 02 ISM was running fabulous. I did an overhaul at 850,000 because of a broken headbolt. I found a bad lobe on the camshaft.
My cam bearings were worn which will give you low oil pressure (many hours of labor to fix that camshaft.) Also rocker shafts and bushings will have wear.

Make certain its a pressure problem instead of a power issue to the sensor. Hook up insite and check voltages into the sensor and out of it, I had my 95 n14 ecm thinking the sensor was bad and low oil pressure. In the end believe it or not it was a bad power wire to the ecm and at least 3 if not 4 sensors get the same 5 volt reference signal from the ecm for this. Bottom line always check and verify proper grounds and power to the ecm so it can do its job properly.
