Big Tex makes a very nice trailer at a reasonable price. I currently have a 22GN 24+5 that replaced the 30+5 I used to pull. It's the only brand I'd go with if given a choice.
Any one go from 18-wheelin to hot shotting?

Replying to your comment about Doge transmissions being "junk", I have recently purchased a Hot Shot rig and the 2014 Dodge 3500 comes equipped with dual transmission coolers. This is a great decision on their part.

I should have caveated that with the fact that I have no experience with the new trucks. That is a good decision on the dual coolers. It wouldn't have made a difference in my old 98.5 though. The inards just weren't strong enough to begin with. I did look into making it bulletproof, but it was too pricey at the time.

I don't know how Mr,Nedrudt says 10K "ish purchace price out the door for a Big Tex 40' . That's a real low price.

I don't know how Mr,Nedrudt says 10K "ish purchace price out the door for a Big Tex 40' . The only way that is possible is if he chose light duty double axle. " Dexter's 10,000 lb ", instead of the usual 12,000 lb axles. I just got a 40' Big Tex and they did offer me a suspiciously low price. When I asked why so low, they explained to me the above mentioned double 10K equipped.Last edited: Jun 10, 2014

I found a way to due a mix of both. I'm an o/o with a single axle crew cab sleeper and 40' trailer. My main business is hot shot but I also go otr when I want. Though I am limited to 20K load weight, there are enough loads out there to keep me busy when I want. The summers here in south LA are brutal. So I mainly just run otr in summers, as far north as I can get! I'm leased to a company that gives me complete freedom to do want I want to. We have tandems running hot shot also for the heavier loads. The key to your dilemma is to pull the trigger and become an o/o. Work like you own it and adjust to what suits you as you go. Control your own life. You only get one, live it your way!

Nope serious my first big tex was a 25' +5' 23gn with three ramps for $9,000 out the door, it was a 2013 left over stock. My new trailer is a 35' +5" 25gn for $11,000. It also has the torque tube but only two ramps with the center pop up.
