Cab over Freightliners were one of the BEST trucks I ever had a chance to drive. I loved those rigs. They weren't too good in a head on accident or a rear in collisions but I always thought they were nice to travel in. I remember one time in 1984 while I was driving I-75 SB in Kentucky I came upon an accident where an ATL driver in a cab over had rear ended another driver that was parked on the shoulder. It was sad...I knew that driver was dead...And there was an ATL four wheel vehicle right behind the scene with it's light bar flashing. ATL used to have 4 wheeler safety vehicles with flashing light bars driven by dispatchers or company safety people. Whenever you saw one of those vehicles at an accident scene...the man in the cab was dead. They used to be the ones to deliver the bad news to the wife/kids.

 

paid cash for my truck, Inframed, new best of everything including suspension. leased on at 76% including reefer trailer rental (all less than 3 yrs old). ave $2.04 (100% fuel surcharge) to truck. $.51 for fuel (20 to 40 cent disc) 2600 to 3200 miles a week for $1.53 do ok. .95 +.50 fsc on all miles would be about the same. Most of the work on a truck you can do yourself, but big truck and maintenance payments and your in the hole.

 

I swear I laughed tears in my eyes when I read your description of the perfect lease lol made my day all these years later

 

Has anyone ever negiotated terms of a lease purchase if so, care to share the company name...looking for a reefer carrier.

anyone thinking about it, there is a lot of good information in it.

 

I own my truck and I get 100% of the detention and 100% of the pump fee.(I pull a tank, but same principle as tarp fee)
