I basically started at the tail lights and cut every zip tie and unplugged each connector that even looked related, sprayed with contact cleaner, applied dieletric grease and put it all back together. To date still working great.

UltraZero, 30yrwrench, Thanks for advice. I tested the big connector on tail with 4 black and 1 white wire and one black does not have voltage it seems. Should all 4 of them be hot?
-
the black wire is your marker light circuit.follow that wire backwards and you will find your problem.for some reason usually under fifth wheel area.good luck.
-
Quality is right Bubaka, the black wire is supposed to be hot for your markers. As he said trace it back towards the truck and you should find the problem. That power stops some where.
-
Finally i have fixed the darn thing. It turns out old wire to license plate has been the culprit. Thanks again for suggestions.
-
Bubaka that's great and go figure it's usually the one thing we over look that causes the most trouble. Happy wrenching.

I also have a code that reads open circuit parking lamp but all the lights work both on the trailer and the truck. The code is driving me nuts!

Funny you should bring this up. I was looking at information where the light bulbs on the front of the truck (Fog Lights) can cause a strange error code if you are not using the correct bulb. I guess having the correct bulb matters. With the incorrect bulb, error will show, with the correct bulb, error goes away. Interesting. I wonder if the LCU can also be faulty. Not mention what about proper grounding which could also be corrupted.

I have an 06 volvo vnl and my tractor tail lights are the only thing out as well. Break and turns work. I should be following the black wire for markers on this truck? I'm getting a light control module error on the dash, Im assuming this shows for any light out, and is never specific to which like some newer trucks? I'm new to this truck, thanks for any help in advance.
