Yeah the TA has a little more parking. In the past though, if my clock is red and I can't drive I tell the swap driver to find a spot to put it in or I can pull the trailer out and drop it and have them put the trailer in the spot I was sitting in. I tell them I'm out of hours and can't drive. I figure if they drove in, they can drive out to still find somewhere to park. Or he can do the move everyone hates and drop his trailer and then sit bobtail in the space next to his truck to save a spot to guarantee the swap driver can park. I've done it before and have had it done for me.

He was parked next to his dropped trailer, we thought it was a good idea, until some whining bully came along and said he could be kicked off the lot for doing that. There were still spots left too! What a whining jerk! George didn't want to cause a problem, so he moved back in front of his trailer.

I always park in the truck parking behind the McDonald's in Bloomington, on the right after you leave the interstate, going toward the Pilot (just across from where you turn into the street leading to the TA). I park there as I can get free WiFi from the McDonald's and breakfast the next morning, walking distance to get a shower at the Pilot or TA.wulfman75, jungHo and HometimeQueen Thank this.

Whenever I was doing a swap in a soon to be filled truck stop I would detatch from trailer and park my truck in the spot next to it and when my swap driver met me all I would do is pull out so he could back in and I would have that spot and he would have a spotjungHo Thanks this.

people will do what they want no matter the advice given
and if trainers perpetuate poor habits there is no hope
lets teach everyone to look out for number one with no concern for anyone else -
Thanks gntorres61, I don't think I would ever lease, I just want to be a company driver and roll.
Let me ask you this , if I take a 3 week course and get my CDL and then do the 11 days training with TransAm do you think I will be ready and safe to go on my own ?
I did my first solo flight in an airplane after 8 hours training so I think I learn pretty quick and I realize I will continue to learn as I drive.
do you feel like I will be ready after CDL school and 11 days training ? -
Dennis, I did a three week CDL course and got the TransAm crash course and have been doing just fine for the past year and a half. Fortunately I was a quick learner. I did not feel prepared and was very overwhelmed but I took things day by day and haven't killed myself or anyone else yet. That being said, I am still a strong backer of a longer training period!!!! But still, TransAm takes on so many newbies every week who are fresh out of school and they get the same short training then thrown into a truck. Just use your head, be very careful, GOAL, and don't be afraid to shut down for foul weather, etc.
I think you will do just fine where ever you choose to go.dennisroc Thanks this. -
Thanks , I think I am a quick learner and will do alright. I wonder about passing and lane changes and being able to see the back of the truck for clearance.
When you pass can you see pretty good to know when to get back over ? I am sure all this comes with time but any helpful hints for a newbie from a newbie, lol
