Any Tanker companies that hire newbies?

Come down to west texas there lost of companies looking for drivers! At least 6 mths of driving experiance to 2 yrs for insurance purposes/tractor and trailer! look into indeed page CDL drivers

 

I don't think you in a good area for tank yanking... Qc has terminals out there in Richmond Ca you can try them....

 

Don't go liquid tank straight outa school. Haul something that will stay put and not push/pull/shove you around. Flatbed or dry van for a few months while u get ur feet wet. Much easier to find a decent tank outfit when u got 6months or even better a clean year under ur belt.

 

its plenty of ppl that yank a tank fresh out of school...its tge best way so they wont pick up bsd dry van or flatbed drivimg habits

 

If a driver is to pick up bad habits, does it really matter what kind of trailer he/she drags behind?

Yes it does boss...it stuff u can get away with in a van u cant in a tank....u can take a curve faster in reefer then a tank...take a curve to fast in a tank and its over for your career

 

I agree curves in a tank require special care. Consider this, many a dry van has paper rolls so tall they nearly touch the ceiling. Know what holds them in place? Nothing. A 1/16 inch rubber mat holds them from sliding. Somewhat. Most top heavy freight I'd ever pulled until a drytainer on spread axle chassis. Loaded with abt 47k lbs of plastic pellets. The lowest point of the load was 5.5 feet off the ground at a full 13'6" height. So trust me, I get the rollover potential.

 

Worst advice I can imagine. If you're not pulling a tank you're not getting experience pulling a tank. Surge is not that bad.

 

Perhaps the worst advice is no advice. To assume that u are right and I am wrong is super trucker arrogance. IMO, a new driver fresh out of CDL "school" should pick a company where he/she is most comfortable. You wanna learn to drive while your cargo is moving around? Go for it. On the other hand, take that slosh out of the equation and that's one less thing to worry about while gaining experience and confidence.
