Borg warner S500 318883...... What are the capabilities/limits on this turbo? I was told it would handle 1,000hp. Then he said 800hp for sure maybe 1,000hp. Ive been searching the internet and have found the turbo on several sites but havent found a spec sheet on it. It was like pulling teeth just to get the numbers on this turbo and all info has been removed before it got to me. Any help would be appreciated.

800hp won't support that turbo in its stock form on a C15, the inducer it 86/120mm give or take, and the exhaust wheel is 110/99mm and comes with a 1.65a/r housing.

the only way to come close to finding a compressor map is by going to the BW aftermarket and looking at the 179188, it has a slightly larger compressor inducer but should be close.

Its on a 1MM with 3327300 cam and pdi manifold. I know its too big for the hp im at right now. Which im guessing is around 750hp. Stock injectors and stock 600file still. Plans for bigger injectors and different files in the near future. I just dont know how far i can push this turbo before i hurt it. The guy i bought it from claimed i was pushing more horsepower than i told him but i disagree. Im looking for around 1100 to the ground when im finished.

I believe Mr. Haney ran one of these when he was still working his truck at a little over 1100hp. You should be fine, but until you get there you might want to look into a 1.45 exhaust housing, should take some of the low end lag out of it.

I have been running this turbo for a year and a half on my c16. And since you said 1mm ,displacement would be the same....so turbo would act the same on your 1mm as my c16. I am also running the same cam so I can say first hand that that turbo is a wonderful choice. The turbo flows 130lbs/ft of air so it will handle 1300 hp. It is not a question if the turbo will handle the hp...it is a question of do you have enough hp to drive the turbo properly without lag. With the 15.8l displacement and the 100th cam this turbo works wonderful and I feel you would not be disappointed in performance running it while you slowly upgrade the fueling for higher hp levels. The cam really makes the engine responsive on the low end which couples perfectly with a turbo this size. Keep in mind....if you go with the 318883 it takes metric bolts for oil supply and return , turbo outlet hold owns and has a funky exhaust flange which will have to be adapted to work with the common full maroon style truck downpipe flange. Any questions would be happy to help.

There is an exhaust flange available that is a direct fit for this turbo, I will see if the guy that told me about it has the part information.

Works very well in the 1000 to 1150 rwhp range as it is. I have ran several and got one on a c16 with same cam and stock injectors and a 1:45 housing does well. I quit buying these though a started using the 88 super core.

If it will hold 1300hp then im golden! Ive already got the turbo on my truck an been running it for about a week so theres no need to look up the exhaust flange. I do appreciate it tho. It has a little lag now but actually runs pretty good as big as it is an no more hp than im pushing it with. Its only putting up 33psi. What can i expect out of boost pressure when i get the hp on up?
Sulltran- what are u running for injectors if u dont mind me asking?

    Bigcat,
I am running a set of 58 injectors. They are good for about 120 hp over stock.

As far as boost goes....mine runs 50psi with the pitts box off. This is running stock inj codes. A bit more fuel and you will be amazed @ the performance.

    hey Rob
How much of a difference is there going from the 1.60 to the 1.45 exh housing?
I have been told the new s588 will out perform the 318883 all around.Think I will try one on the next go around.
