Ever talk with C.L.,Jim,Greg,or Gary ect? ROB..You want people to belive what you say is True dont you?
Rob,You have no inclenation what Clarence is or anything. And NEVER WILL.
Its Impossible for any operation on the the face of the earth,to be superior to WEMPS Omaha faculity.
Please name anyboy else if at all possible.
The Gra-Gar Facilitys are top notch.NO Holds Barred..And Drivers keep in mind the units are traded-out often warrenty wise/considered
I would conclude with a smat remark like..

I think the animal's dream is for someone to take what he says seriously.......

Well lemme tell the dog snatcher what I do know... I know Werner Enterprises is turning over employees like the kids flip burgers at Mickey friggin' Dee's! I know Clarence Werner hasn't set foot on Omaha's terminal in OVER a yr. I know that when he last left he was going fishin' with Mr. Schwartzkopft(as in Norman, General, USA(ret). I know your OPINION is merely that and holds not a note more merit than anyone elses, particularly since YOU haven't been there in ages either. I was there in March of 2008!
By and large, Gra-Gar facilities SUCK! But how would you know, seeing that you don't use them anymore. Did you know they'll use USED batteries now? That's right... A batteriy dies... They RE-charge the thing and think it's all better. Gra-Gar was SO great, I had 5 trucks in 8 MONTHS last yr! Drivers beat'em up and Gra-Gar does as little as possible. As I said before, I give big credit to Allentown, but the others I went to, including Omaha... SUCK! They wouldn't even change my worn belts... Even AFTER one shredded and left the truck.
You think they trade for new in some smooth, quick fashion... The policy changed last yr... Not anymore. I know people driving '05's, but they'll tell you "18mo is the average" Well yeah, since they do have some 08's(mostly sitting) that claim can be made.
As for $$$$$.. I know WEMP drivers who complain they cannot make $400 per week. Never happened to me like that, unless they didn't pay as they should. Still, I've made more. They start newbies at like .26cpm Almost everyone else is at or above .31
And I have a strong inclination of what/who Clarence is, sir. I can basically read his life story at will. HE no longer runs WEMP. As such, he isn't the topic.
Perhaps nothing's impossible. You or I may not be able to do it ourselves, but it could probably be done. To think nothing more extravagant than WEMP, Omaha is possible... Why? 1st, it's overkill and other companies might realize the need doesn't exist. 2nd, it's not THAT great! It is nice, but .... At least Dallas has a place to sleep while you're waiting. Perfect? Hardly. Impossible to better or best... Not remotely true. Not even a little, teeny bit.
Be as biased and thankful as you like. But for someone who seems to have been gone from Werner for about 14 years... Arguing over today's Werner seems useless.
No, it's not a u-pick junkyard. It's the comments of a guy who hasn't been involved since 1994(it's 2008 now) and the comments of a guy who left last month. Who's more likely to know how things are run today? Not bloody you.
My point isn't really to knock WEMP, but I can... I know what I've seen and I can still remember it. For some, WEMP is excellent. For most, it clearly isn't. Otherwise, they wouldn't have a massive TO rate.
And btw, taking the average number of new hires per week and multiplying isn't really "FUZZY MATH" at all... If you can multiply, it's pretty clear. Werner has a MASSIVE turnover rate! They don't include trainees in their numbers and still lose more than the number of drivers per yr. -
Allright? RobW. and Lonenesome and the rest of your kind witch is nothing revolutionary.

GOT Better Fish 2 Fry !! ....animal control-out -
I'm not even here to argue with you... Simply put, you know even less as to the way Werner Ent is run today than I. Why you insist on debating, I can't tell. But according to you, your "career" there was from 1990 to 1994... If nothing else, read the part beyond your rant.
I see math isn't your strong suit(mine neither). 35,700 to 51,000(tops- considering roughly 1wk annually w/o orientation). As stated, I only know what I saw. And I believe I said, "if" rather than, "It's 700 per week!" When I was inside the gates of WEMP terminals, I saw hundreds of new hires. On any given weekday in Lakeland, FL, one of their smallest facilities, they may have from 10 to 150 new hires. That place is so small they didn't even offer service to trucks until last month... Even now it's only a service truck, run by the former Dallas shop manager.
Clarence no longer WORKS there. How simple can I type this? He doesn't even maintain an office anymore... But you knew that since you were there as recently as NINETEEN NINETY-FOUR! And for anyone considering Werner, simply call and ask to speak to C.L. himself. You'll quickly be told what I'm saying here to the extent, he's no longer available. Why? He's not working there.
From Werner.com... "Two of C.L.'s four children are actively involved in the business. Greg is President and the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer and Gary is Vice Chairman. C.L.'s daughter, Gail Werner-Robertson and Curt Werner have both previously been involved in the company and served on the board of Werner Enterprises. C.L. and his wife Linda live in Omaha." -FYI, dog chaser... Clearly, it shows on their own website, C.L. isn't actively involved. Two of his children are.
I don't blame you... You're losing pathetically. And it shows.
Who mentioned what stocks he owned? Who said he didn't still own stocks? He's retired... He's not a moron!
Apparently you don't understand the corporate world... A shareholder need not actually work for the company in which he/she owns stock. And since WEMP is so great, what about the stock dip last quarter? The earnings(the money SH's actually made) dropped 43% to .12 per share in 2008 1st quarter vs .21 for 2007 1st qtr. He still made plenty, but he lost vs this time last yr. As a matter of fact, WEMP lost vs the past 5yrs according to Werner reporting.
You weren't doing more than offering an opinion, as were most of us here. It's yours and you're free to have it... Don't simply expect others to listen though, BECAUSE you offered it freely. If I'm not paying for it to begin with, don't expect me to be careful with it... Because chances are, I don't even want it.
I don't care if you feel disgusted or not. I live MY life and I suggest you live yours. I get disgusted when I see bad spelling... Does it matter to you? Evidently not, and I don't expect it will. If you'd climb down from your high chai...horse, you might just realize that things happening at Werner today aren't necessarily the same as the were 14yrs ago, when you worked there.
If you want to continue having a pee contest, be my guest to give it what you've got...

This is the ranch we helped Clarence build in '93 and I believe he still calls "Home".The logs were (thanks Equaizer) hauled in from Montana, ect.
Clarence has no money or employement issues.
Please do tell if you or anyone KNOW of a better run big player outfit in the world...........I thought NOT.
THX WEMP -
In our experience, Werner was the worse company to work for! Never do I want to go back. Just thinking about it boils my blood.
"SOMEONE!!! Please tell me if it's really as bad as what I've read. I came out here to make a massive amount of money, and I'm going to give myself a nervous breakdown if even half of what I read is true." -
Hows your training going? Time for an update & back to you original thread.

Thank you for responding to my post I do appreciate all views presented. It would appear that each company is designed for a different niche for drivers, but if you bounce form one to the next to find your niche it's a negative on your DAC. Lol
So my next question's would be who has desirable drivers ,lots of miles ,low turn over ,few crashes ,and rested bright eyed bushy tailed drivers? I would really appreciate employment with them, Im very big on safety first the first time." No Billy Big Rigger here" Rofl
P.S. Dancing Monkey. Again my humble understanding is the late tag refers to not being able to drop your load at the scheduled time.Werner agrees it will be there on the second but wants you there on the first. If you cant get it there by the first it is late. High priority is different we picked up a load of transmissions in Atl. and took it to a toyota assembly plant that would have shut down if they weren't there in time. Those are different I agree.
Thank You All
