Does anyone use a Keurig out on the road, and if so, how do you keep it stable when going down the road? I'm thinking about taking mine with me when I go out on the road, but not if it would be too much of a hassle.

Not a trucker yet but I imagine it can save a few bucks. Especially if you use regular coffee with the cups you poor the grounds in.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
I got one of the mini keurig coffee makers, you add the water each time you make a cup. I have the extra bunk let down and use that as a shelf for my fridge, microwave, and a 3 drawer shelf unit, my printer scanner, and the coffe maker rides up there rather nicely.
and for the folks who will say that's a danger , they are all secured in with screws and straps.
but I love my keurig, have one at home too. -
Been thinking about getting one for the truck. Biggest issues I can see, is that they're somewhat oddly shapped, which would make securing it in the truck a bit awkward. Then there's the bigger fact that I know they draw a very large amount of wattage/amperage in order to brew coffee that quickly, they peak at over 2,000 watts on startup and sustain a draw of about 1,500 watts during brewing.
Id just as soon stick with the French press. Drink tea, it's easier to make and better for you.JForce28 Thanks this. -
There's only one problem with tea, and I even order mine from Taiwan so it's fresh...

Here's a quote from Google:
"Betel-nut chewing, a dug-in part of Taiwan male, working-class culture that has so far resisted reformers' best efforts to stamp it out. Truckers, taxi-drivers and construction workers are especially fond of the chew."
A highly decorated betel nut kiosk alongside the main street nearby freeway intersection in Taiwan.

Thanks, didn't realize how many watts the Keurig uses, I have one of the larger ones with the large water reservoir, would it make much of a difference getting a smaller single cup one?
-
I'm getting this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beac...r_1_4?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1405194378&sr=1-4
Also HB says it's only 600W (as per the website) http://commercial.hamiltonbeach.com...flexbrew-single-serve-coffeemaker-hdc300.html
Now I'm taking the Amazon reviews with a big grain of salt and for 50.00 bucks you can't go wrong if it lasts a year or more of regular use. -
I use a Keurig K cup brewer, the one that has a 40oz reservoir on it. This draws 1400 watts while heating the water and works fine on a 1500 watt inverter. I don't leave anything else plugged in when brewing though. Have tried the Mr Coffee K cup and it failed after 3 months. So far this one is lasting going on 8 months. Starting our with a new company this next week and thinking about using the French press I have. I thought of using my camp stove for heating the water too. The K cup coffee is about $1.50 or so to fill my FJ coffee mug. This isn't much savings over TS coffee only better tasting and easier to get a cup while still in my bunk.
