WOODFORD A tractor-trailer crashed on Woodford Mountain trying to round a sharp curve on Route 9 for the second time in a week Wednesday, closing the road for hours and requiring the driver to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted.
According to Sgt. Mike Marvin of the Vermont StatePolice, Deborah Brown, 44, of Hayworth, Okla., was driving a 1998 Western Star truck west toward Bennington when the truck overturned. The crash occurred at the same curve where another tractor-trailer crashed last week, killing two local men, from Stamford and Readsboro, who were in a vehicle struck by the trailer.
Another man from Brattleboro in a third vehicle was also struck and seriously injured.
Brown was trapped inside the overturned truck for at least two hours while rescue crews worked to extricate her. Police say she was able to speak with them while rescue personnel tried to free her. She was airlifted to Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., with undisclosed "serious injuries," accordingto police. Her husband, Thomas Brown, 54,andson Thomas Brown, 22, were passengers in the truck but were able to exit the vehicle. Police say four dogs and a snake were also
