Just an FYI for the notes, YES you can park overnight at C&S Wholesale in Plant City, FL. You come in, go to the common carrier parking area and check in. I will check in in the morning. There are several other trucks here for the night too. Glad I gambled. Brian cooked my favorite rice with breakfast this morning and I didn't have to leave til just after lunch.Deliver at 0700 here and will start my day with a 007 and deliver at Colorado Boxed Beef at noon. I know I can't get in too early with them but there is a nearby spot to park just a couple miles off.

A trans am trailer caught fire in Duluth GA on Georgia us 316. Truck got unhooked and driver safe, it's dark so all they know is it's a dark truck black/dark green. Hopefully none of y'all! I can't post video here it's in a private group on facebook, can't see much in it anyway, no numbers and too dark.
HometimeQueen and jungHo Thank this. -
^From the fire damage, did it start up near the refer or under the back tandems? About ten days ago, I had a guy pass me, on the lane going into a Walmart DC in eastern Pennsylvania. A very hilly area and the guy had been running fast and hard with his trailer brakes on. He had full open flames on his left side tandem when he stopped at the line of trucks going into the Walmart DC. I went and knocked on his door and told him to grab his fire extinguisher.
I saw that he put the fire out but I don't know what ultimately happened to him. Ironically, it was my turn to pass him as he stood there scratching his head, trying to figure out what he would do as his wheel was now fused with his brake pad.HometimeQueen and ajacks121712 Thank this. -
Back by tandems.

Anyone know about the diabetes part of the DOT physical.
Do they take blood and send to lab , do they take a finger tip sample or do you just tell them you are diabetic ?
I take insulin now as a choice but am going back on pills so I can get my CDL and drive a truck.
Any info will help , thanks -
Good morning everyone. There were some storms in my area last night and more expected this afternoon.....cuts down on my internet time!

honeybadger, thank you for the information on parking and I am glad it worked out for you.
jaso, good luck this week as you start back with TransAm. I think you are the best one to answer dennisroc on the question about diabetes......please.
Folks, I know we are a little disheartened this week....it is hard to accept changes especially when we really don't understand them. The only thing that we can do is to keep on doing what we have always done .....help one another and help the new driving families to the best of our abilities. Differences of opinion are acceptable..... and in many ways are a good thing, they help us come up with solutions that we might not have thought about until then. We have a common bond here, an understanding of the difficulties that are part of the trucking industry but each one of us makes our own choices based on what we think is best at the time. Respect is the key here.jungHo, dennisroc, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this. -

Ok I lied before I can't stay away. So I apologize for my last post.
Dennisroc I have diabetes and it is a fingerprick now to get your A1C, it has to be under 10. Your medical card will only be good for one year. You can not do insulin and leave your state. I just got mine done and last year was $60 and pee in a cup. This year $195 here is the breakdown for me-$120 for the physical-$40 for some breathing test(as I am over 35 and smoke)-$35 for the A1C test. They measured my neck and did a BMI(body mass index) which I was considered obese, I am not but 6'3" and 248 puts me there. The standards for the DOT physical were changed in January and there are less Dr.s doing it now. Last year over 50 in my county did them. This year only 3. As they had to do 2 courses to qualify. So call ahead to make sure your Dr. does them. Good luck.
I think with the changes it is going to disqualify 20-35% of the drivers out there over the next 2 years. My Dr. said about 30% of his could not qualify under the new rules and with this national registry there can not be fraud medical cards anymore cause your CDL is tied to your medical card now and it has to go on the national registry list. If they catch you with a fraudulent card it is a federal offense.
Leave out Wed. for Olathe. Flying Southwest should take the wiz quiz Wed. and be driving Thursday. I guess I will be in a 680 so I will see what they are like. Have driven the W-900, T-660, T2000 and T-700. So I guess I am used to KW.
I hope that info helped Dennisroc and if you want to know more PM me and we will exchange numbers so I can give you more info on anything you need. If I do not know I will say I do not know. That offer is to anyone who needs any help. I answer the phone all day and night to help out my former students. So call me anytime.
Be safe out therescottlav46, wulfman75, gntorres61 and 3 others Thank this.
