Jerry,I worked for an LTL carrier for 13 years.LTL stands for "Less than Truckload".I would deliver on average 20 pallets a day to multiple stops. Some stops might get one pallet of freight, others more. After I was done with deliveries I started the process of picking up freight.A pallet here,a pallet there, until the trailer was full. When I arrived at my terminal, the freight was off loaded and reloaded to trailers that the day or night line haul drivers would haul.My position was called ,city ,pickup and delivery. My radius from the terminal, about 50 miles.Payscale, about $23.00 per hour.Line haul drivers made more but with longer hours. The good thing? You were home every night.I did OTR for 7 years.I loved it but wanted to be closer to home so this local LTL job worked out good. There are alot of different segments to the trucking industry.Try any of them and see what one fits you most.Good luck.
What is LTL?

i found out LTL is more profitable than full truck load...i usually load 3 partial shipments sometimes even more and tripple the overall gross revenue. LTL is my fav.....especially hot LTL that pays same amount of $$ as full truck load.

Then again, it could be:
Lost Truck Load
Last Trucker Left
Large Tank Load
Last Trucker Lost
Long Trailer Length
Local Truckers Lose
Let Truckers Lay
Lost Trucker Located
Ok, I'll stop now -
The correct terminology is Limited Truck Load!

little time for life, run,run with little sleep and not much pay..
