I have read numerous articles saying that there is a 90%-110% turnover rate in this industry, none of those articles have mentioned that if they are drivers quitting or if its drivers being fired, and i'm a bit angry about that
so my question is this, how much of that is drivers quitting? how much of that is drivers being fired? and why is that?

I would say most is from quitting.Companies can't afford to fire drivers as much trouble they're having right now finding good qualified drivers with a good mvr dac and record.I could give you a million reasons why.I'll let the others chime in on that one.

I think half are quitting and going to other companies. And the other half just don't last the first 6 months.

Drivers quitting for greener pastures, drivers quitting cause they realize that this lifestyle is not for them, driver's who have screwed up so bad, they get fired. That should cover most of the possibilites.

Most people cant deal with being away from their family, also the stress of starting a new career and learning curve of driving a 53ft trailer through traffic. If they last 6 months I hear it gets easier.

There are several reasons for high turn over in this job field and here they are.
This job attracts personality types with these two basic foundations for getting along or not getting along in society. You may have already noticed how many drivers are basically angry at everything and every one around them. They don't play or work with others but have to support themselves so they have the intelligence to realize they wouldn't last one minute in a plant or office environment and trucking is a logical job choice. The other cause for turn over is two fold. First the employer has one goal in mind after the romance of recruting comes to a screeching hault and the new driver finds him/her self out in the real world of pounding down the highway ten to eleven hours a day. It's hard to hang on to being a knight on horse back on a galant mission to some where when your butt is dragging after working all day to make a delivery or pickup, only to discover no body cares what delayed you from being on time, you just lost your "atta Boy" star.
To make this reality more painful is that dispatch has only one goal in mind to make the delivery or pickup on time. And any excuse you can think up has been heard a few thousand times and they don't believe you, even if it is the truth.
Several things you can do to prevent your self from getting fatigued to point of not controlling your negative emotions are don't consume any sugar loaded drinks or eat a lot of pastries or candy. Read up on nutrition and learn ways you can control your attitude with the food you put in your body.
