Do we not pick up anything in southern florida? 2nd time i've come to florida and it's the 2nd time i've had a 350+ mile dead head, not that I mind, but I'm picking up at one of those places with a cover charge.

Aluminum decking from somewhere south of Cocoa, but otherwise no. I did hear we occasionally get Charlotte Pipe loads from down there, but that Schneider owns the contract.

P.S., bring in your own dunage to Ameristeel-they don't sell it anymore.

any idea if 4' pieces will do the job? can't say I see a point in spending cash on more crap I don't need for a ~700 mile load.

    Ameristeel requires 8'ers.

This might not be the right section for this but how must do you guys average per week as far as $$$? I would be perfectly happy if I can bring home about $900 per week.

Second question. Can I switch to Texas regional if I go company?

I can't say what the company drivers make per week-last guy I spoke with was averaging about a grand a week before taxes, out four weeks, off 3-4 days. Etc. But he owned his securement equipment, so expect additional deductions if you need to buy through Prime. (I strongly advise bringing your own however, as the stuff Prime sells you is recycled from previous drivers that quit).

And as for regional, don't know. But I wouldn't trust recruiting on the matter. Get in touch-in writing-with Jim Wilkins and see what he says. He calls the shots.

Most of the securement stuff I got was new - I think you can get all used if you want, but all my straps, bungees, edge protectors, chains, and most of my binders were new. two of my tarps were used but in good condition, and it costs about $70/week.

There are a lot of factors in how many miles you might get, but $900 gross is definitely a realistic expectation. I've had better weeks and worse weeks.

edit: Charlotte Pipe should really build a plant on Long Island so we don't have to go there anymore.

I know last summer even with all the deductions , getting 2500 -3000 I'd bring home 900 to 1000 plus depending on tarp pay and stop off pay.
