    Hey fellow drivers, I'm currently driving for one of the mega companies and ready to jumpship and look for a local gig. Things are not looking right financially. I'm just concerned about my Dac & my dmv report, constantly worried If I would be hireble with another company. So this what I have at the moment (surely trying to keep it that way)

    05/20/2013 backing incident at a shipper. (2nd week in a mentors truck. Mentor was asleep. Ended up encroaching too much on my right side while backing into the dock and sliced a parked trailer. Minor damage.
    )
    06/19/13 Made an illegal left turn onto a flying j in PA off of I-81 ex 77. Got a $112 ticket with no points. (Had to go the bathroom real bad) Cop busted me and a another truck driver who happened to do the same thing.

    My point is. You know thank god I survived my 1st year without wrecking or nothing like that. Just wanted to hear an old tymers 2 cents...

    A minor backing accident? You'll be ok, but you will have to wait 7 years before you can post on TTR that you've never hit anything.

    That's a TA on I-81 exit 77 not a flying J and I don't know why you would get a ticket for an illegal left hand turn going into there. Even the Flying J on exit 52 I have no idea how you could get a ticket for that.

    Look any trucking company that you apply for is going to find out about the above two incidents. Will it bar you from employment? No, definitely not. Your less then one year experience being enough or not will determine whether you can get a good local job or not.

    My insurance would not take you unless you had 2 year's experience.

    These are not serious offenses that would keep you from being hired by many carriers within your level of experience. DOT reportable accidents and serious moving violations are what will limit your job opportunities. Learn from these events and focus on safety, not convenience, and you will have a bright future.

    Could always ask FLB. Word over in the Euro-trucking sub is that he's hiring intrastate 16 y/o Estonians. I imagine the op's insurance rates will be cheaper.

    (Just poking fun, FLB. Though the hell is going on with that post I saw last night about the Estonian kid?)

    While the issues in your DAC are relatively minor my suggestion to you is stick it out for another year if possible. As one of the other posters pointed out there are a lot of carriers whose insurance will not cover anyone with less than 2 years OTR. After 2 years your job options open up a lot.

    Yea. I thought of that. But. Where I'm at right now, incomewise is not consistent. Is more bad weeks than good weeks.
