Trans Am Still

George gave me permission to give the scoop. He stayed at the Pilot TS exit 280, West Memphis for 20 hours waiting for his swap to appear. Turns out the guy had to take his 10 and he was 120 miles away at the Petro in Little Rock, Arkansas. Dispatch told him (George) to backtrack about 2 hours to complete the swap. George headed out but sent dispatch a message that unless the other driver needed his load to get home, it may be better for him to continue to original run. He got 78 miles in the direction of Little Rock, 2/3 of the way there, when....he got a message on the TREQ to pull over to read his messages. The result: turn around, take original load to original receivers, 2 stopper, Montgomery, AL and Atlanta, GA. He is trying in vain to get the load there on time to bail Trans Am out, first stop due 8 am tomorrow. He thinks if he goes straight to the receiver and stays there, he might just make it.

Also, while at the TS in West Memphis, John Boy had read George's post regarding his location and stopped by this morning to visit with him! George was really glad to see him. They shot the breeze for 20 minutes or so.

 

I also like the version Joe ####er did. I think he wrote it for the Beatles. I could be wrong lol

 

It should be just under 500 miles for George to make it and that includes the dispatch screw up so he should be ok for delivery. Tell George to be sure that his DM knows about the night/weekend dispatch mess, and that he makes them aware of the 156 extra miles that he was dispatched on to do a swap that didn't take place .....otherwise he may not get paid for them.....they will forget to tell his DM what they did.
It's nice that he and JohnBoy got to visit today!

 

Have to take a moment and totally give props to Ben on night dispatch. I did not get angry today and I didn't act like a jerk. Messaged night dispatch and Ben said he would get with the planners and if that didn't work would try and find a swap himself. That was maybe 2 hours ago. Right now I'm hooked up to an empty about to roll out for Greensboro where I will be til Monday morning at least. Figured I would praise a night dispatcher for a change instead of condemning. Ben doesn't realize it, but his attentiveness and effort have pretty much won over my cooperation in the future. This is generally a good thing and I'm more likely to do favors when asked to. But I'm all about if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

 

Good to know, HTQ. I asked George if he'd get paid for those miles. He says he should. I agree with you, though, that he needs to alert his DM. Sure seems like someone messed things up with that swap. The driver in Little Rock was actually having to reset his 70 hour clock, so dispatch has or had to send someone else for that swap.

when I posted about George's change in plans and resuming the route, he was about 45 minutes from Jacksonville. Jacksonville to Montgomery is approx 366 miles, so, yes, hopefully he will get there before his clock runs out.

Glad you and your family had a good time today and the teens actually enjoyed it! Guess there's some hope for them after all.

Currently in kansas city. I have a 3 stopper load 2 in walton ky and the final in detroit mi. It was nice meeting up with George. Well talk to everyone soon.

jungHo next time George does a swap he should get the other drivers phone number cause that would have stopped all that nonsense but that is how you get experience we have all been through it. I hope he is safe while driving through the night.

I just woke up and getting ready to start my day. Love driving these hours. Makes it easier to get in 550 or 600 without wasting too much of my clock. Should be in Milton, Pa. before noon east coast time.
