hey floyd you mustve passed me or been close.

im in manchester TN for the night. drove 648 today, going for the same tomorrow. then ill be about 200 miles from miami deliver just a couple miles from there. had til tuesday but i want it on this weekscheck. hope all goes well tomorrow, seems like ill make it by 8 or 9 am.

and yes you have to bobtail if you do go drive. cant have a trailer, even if its empty. i made that mistake and didnt know, they just said make sure to bobtail for off duty driving.

there was a huge backup on i24 in TN just now going west. looks like a truck flipped over, there were boxes of stuff all on the side of the freeway. a little before going east traffic was at a dead stop for about 20 min. looked like 2 motorcycles hit each other, there was one in the middle ditch once they finally let us pass.

Also what I have read is that Melton has increase there driver per mile rate and is pretty attractive But how is the tarping? Do thry run regional of just otr ? How are the trucks? Does anyone close to me that would be able to answer more then others of Melton ? Will wait for a reply either on here or PM me thanks a lot

Deliver roofing in the morning to Des Plaines, IL a suburb of Chicago. Didn't want to spend a bunch of time in morning rush hour traffic, so sitting at the O'Hare Oases about 15 min away; got the last spot. The con says no overnight parking or I would give that a shot. To complicate the matter, the address on the BOL is different than the QC directions. I think the directions are for a work or storage site. We will see what the mother ship says, but I will go to the BOL address and let them make the decision from there, unless otherwise directed. Less than 5 miles so shouldn't be a biggie. It's the little things that make this job "interesting".

Bman20, don't know about the freight in your home area, but if they hire you they will get you home as you request. You may have a couple of hours of travel time, but they will get you there. Tarping is tarping. It gets easier with practice, but can be a pain when really hot/cold or in precipitation; it is part of flatbed. Melton is primarily an OTR company. Trucks are KW660's with inverters and APU's. Very well maintained.

Bman20, I've been with Melton a year next month. The load distance vary, but usually 500 to 3000 miles and avg around 800. I'm averaging around 2500+ miles per week. If you have recent OTR experience you may be able to just do the 8 days of orientation/securing in Tulsa and then in your own truck. Otherwise, you would spend a little bit of time with a trainer. I had just 4 days when I went through and that made for a very steep learning curve. Hopefully, you can do the 8 days and be on the road.

Bman20, shoot any questions you have either here or PM. You have a lot more experience OTR than me, but I will give you what I know and have experienced in my time here. If I remember correctly, the training pay is $70 per day. However, there have been several pay changes in the past year, like increasing the hazmat and Canada pay from 3 cents to 6 cents per mile.
