I would ask the forum administraters if they would be willing to start a section or subsection for tracking fuel prices. There's probably different ways to do it, but my idea would be to have a thread for each state and when people find a location with a good price they could post with cash/credit price and location in the subject, then put any relevent info about the place in the subject. (hours of service, perhaps a certain card gets a discount, parking and ammenities, directions from major highway, etc...)

This would be useful to me if I am heading across a state to glance and see what others are paying and perhaps stop where they did. I also could contribute, for example, I know some farm co-op card fuel spots in IL that are likely not listed on any truckstop finder apps that usually have great prices.

    Thanks for considering this idea.

I don't think we would have much interest in a section dedicated to fuel prices. I've got a sticky thread posted in Trucker news and rarely get views on it. >> http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...kers-news/97314-fuel-gauge-report-diesel.html

It's just as easy for someone to go on the web to find these locations. We are open to suggestions in maybe moving that thread to a different area or any other ideas.

Thanks for reminding me, some of the links needed to be updated :)

I can accept your decision, but I gotta make my case.

What I can't currently do, certainly not easily, is choose a state and see the best prices paid recently by peer review. Most fuel price sites will not even let me know with confidence if I can get an 18-wheeler in and out. I can't risk chasing 5 cent cheaper fuel unless I can get a review telling me it's a good place to stop and they have a card reader, or if they close at 8 pm, etc...

I would also point out that members who would use such a tool could easily save $1,000 or more per year. I really can't imagine what the forum could do to provide more real value to forum members than that.

Again, thanks for the consideration, and if it's determined to be not worthwhile at this time, I will accept that decision.

Danny, what about going into some of the 'Where are you?' threads and asking members if they'd mind posting fuel prices? There are at least three of those threads in different forums that are very active and some of the company forums have them, as well.

Some members are parked at rest areas or loading/unloading locations, but many of them post from truck stops. All that they would have to do is to look at the sign even if they didn't fuel. That would give you real-time prices from truck stops all around the country.

If you could get it started, it might catch on and get to be a habit. I can see it being a really useful addition to those threads.

If you use EFS, try this site.

Heck, it'd probably be a good tool even if you don't. At least you know all those stops sell truck diesel.

That would be something I would do under my normal post. Really hadn't thought about it till now hopefully it will catch on. Course I'm just running Arkansas mostly now, So I won't be much help.

Stile, the EFS site is awesome ! But still would be curious what other prices may be available not in the EFS network and if those prices are just for EFS card, etc...

I've decided to work on it myself, will take me a bit to get organized and will only work if we can drum up enough support of people posting to make it work. Here's what I've got so far, gonna have to change a few things around before I start asking folks to join.

wore out, I think local guys would be great because if you're like me you probably know a few off the beaten path stops with cheaper fuel. When I come to AR I want to know where they are at ! And I would also point out if someone else happens to post a stop a few cents cheaper on one of your regular routes that you were unaware of that could save you a bunch of money over the course of a year.

That's a great link to have, since my company uses EFS. I added it to the links in that thread I posted.

At this point the total at exit 85 on 67 is 3.42 if you use the citgo cash card. 3.52 if you just pay for it. The Exxon right down the road closer to the big road is 3.65. The total is easy to get in and out of for us but if you are pulling any type of oversize I wouldn't try it there pumps are too close togather.
